Three Meals Not to Miss in Copenhagen
👌🏻 For the first meal, near the New Carlsberg Glyptotek, we visited Restaurant Karla. After exploring the art gallery, we decided to try this highly-rated Danish local spot. We ordered salmon and a Danish specialty pork dish. The salmon was fresh, paired with a unique mustard sauce that had a spicy kick, and was served on a layer of open-faced bread with mayonnaise. This combination was rich and delicious. The pork was simply stunning, with a crispy skin and tender, juicy meat, topped with pickles and drenched in gravy. The flavors were beyond words. ✍🏻 For the second meal, near the Danish Museum of Art and Design, we went to Restaurant Kastellet. The moment you step in, you’re immersed in a traditional Danish dining experience, with walls adorned in light blue and green wallpaper. The ambiance was lovely, with paintings and photos of Danish history and ships telling the story of the nation’s glory. We tried the Danish specialty herring, which shattered my preconceived notions about Danish herring. The dish was sweet, savory, with a hint of salt, and no unpleasant fishy smell. The tender fish was topped with slightly acidic red onions and mustard seeds, melting in the mouth. The dessert, a chocolate almond cake, was less impressive, both in size and flavor, especially considering the price. 🥃 For the third meal, we ventured to Ma Poule, a French eatery in the western part of Copenhagen’s city center, known for its charcuterie but also serving small tapas-like dishes. Despite the high prices, the food and service lived up to the hype. The French waiter patiently introduced their signatures, and we ordered foie gras and duck hearts, complemented by a beer, totaling about 300 yuan. The foie gras was layered over beef and a toasted baguette, simply seasoned with salt, pepper, and olive oil. The simplicity highlighted the freshness of the ingredients, creating a delightful combination of fats and carbs. The duck hearts were also simply prepared, making them an excellent appetizer for those who enjoy offal. #GlobalFoodieSquad #Copenhagen #NewYearTravel #EuropeanTravel #CopenhagenFood #RestaurantRecommendations #SpringTravelDestinations #MeetTheBeautiful #EuropeanCuisine #CopenhagenTravel
