Tokyo / Mori Art Museum in Roppongi
The Mori Art Museum is located on the 53rd floor of the Mori Tower in Roppongi Hills. ๐๐บ In addition to exhibitions, it also features a museum cafรฉ, restaurant, and an indoor observation deck. I actually came here for the observation deck at first! ๐โจ ๐๐บ Louise Bourgeois was a French-American artist, renowned for her installation art, oil paintings, and sculptures. So, I was really surprised to see her fabric paintings and fabric book works hereโit was such a delightful surprise! ๐จ ๐๐บ Her most famous work is a giant spider sculpture named "Maman" (Mommy). It might look a bit stern and intimidating, but actually, it's her way of honoring her beloved mother. ๐ธ๏ธโค๏ธ ๐๐บ Louise's parents were in the tapestry restoration business, and she was influenced by them. In the later part of her career, she created many warm and cozy fabric paintings and fabric books, inspired by her childhood memories. ๐๐บ This section was my favorite! ๐ Louise Bourgeois Special Exhibition ๐๐บ Dates: September 25, 2024 - January 19, 2025 Tickets: Adults - 2000 yen on weekdays, 2200 yen on holidays ๐๐บ Address: 53rd Floor, Mori Tower, Roppongi Hills, 6-10-1 Roppongi, Minato-ku, Tokyo #Tokyo ๐ฟ #Japan ๐ธ #TokyoMuseum ๐จ #Roppongi ๐
