Tokyo Asakura Sculpture Museum - The Rodin of the Orient (2)🧑🎨
In 1907, Asakura graduated from the school and set up his own studio and residence in Tōno Temple, Yanaka 🏡. 🌆🌟He began his creative activities there. Initially, the space was small, but it underwent expansion, renovation, land acquisition, and rebuilding, and by 1935, the current building was completed 🏗️🌟. Asakura himself took charge of the architectural design, paying meticulous attention to every detail, which reflects his rigorous attitude 🖼️. He named it “Asakura Sculpture Studio” 🎨. His first entry at the 2nd Ministry of Education Fine Arts Exhibition won the highest award of the show 🏆. 🌆🌟 He continued to win awards at government-sponsored exhibitions, solidifying his status as a sculptor. In addition to teaching at his alma mater, he also founded the “Asakura Sculpture School” to nurture the next generation of talent. As a key figure, he long led the development of the Japanese sculpture world. 🌆🌟 In 1948, he became the first sculptor to receive the Order of Culture, and he passed away in 1964 at the age of 81. #Tokyo 🌆🌟
