Tokyo Citywalk | Nihonbashi: The Dawn of the Edo Era 🌇
On the second day of my journey in Japan, I chose to go on a city walk and arrived at Nihonbashi, a place that marks the beginning of Edo's development and holds significant historical importance in Edo's history. 🌉 🌟🌸 The rise of Edo began with Tokugawa Ieyasu. In 1600, he defeated the Toyotomi clan at the Battle of Sekigahara, eliminating any rival forces. Three years later, the emperor granted Ieyasu permission to establish a shogunate, effectively placing the reins of power in his hands. 🌺🌇 He chose to center his administration in Edo, located to the east. 🏰 Edo had always been Ieyasu's stronghold. In 1590, after Toyotomi Hideyoshi seized Edo from the Hojo clan and bestowed it upon Ieyasu, Edo was merely an isolated fishing village. 🌟🌸 The traditional political and cultural heart of Japan lay in the Kansai region, such as Kyoto, where the imperial court resided, and Osaka, home to the Toyotomi clan. 🌺🌇 People from Kansai even referred to this area as the "barbaric east." #Japan 🌇
