Tokyo Exhibition | A Building That Opens Only 3 Months a Year šŸ›ļø

During lunch break, I spontaneously decided to visit Kioi Seido near my office since it’s been closed for over half a year. This time, it’s open to showcase the works of architect Hiroshi Naito over the past 40 years. Both the exhibition and the building itself are absolutely worth seeing—highly recommended! ✨ • My first encounter with Hiroshi Naito was his design for the Ginza Line Shibuya Station’s new platform. The massive white M-shaped frame paired with the Ginza Line’s yellow trains feels incredibly futuristic. šŸš‡šŸ’› • This exhibition not only displays his architectural blueprints but also lets you freely flip through his sketches to peek into his creative process—similar to last year’s Margiela exhibition at their Ebisu office. āœļøšŸ“– • Kioi Seido itself is a massive 15m cube supported by just four pillars. The ground floor adopts Le Corbusier’s "pilotis" (elevated columns), so you can actually see these pillars. Overall, it’s like a glass-clad, square version of UnitĆ© d'Habitation. šŸ¢šŸ” • A classic Tokyo example of "We’re not sure what this building’s purpose is yet, but we have a cool design, so let’s build it first." šŸ˜† šŸ“ Address: Kioi Seido (3-1 Kioicho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) šŸ“… Dates: July 1 (Tue) – Sept 30 (Tue), 2025 ā° Hours: 10:00–16:00 (Open only on Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays) šŸŽ« Admission: FREE! #TokyoEvents #ExhibitionAlert #FreeExhibition #ArtExhibition #LifeInTokyo #Hanzomon
