Tokyo Zojo ji Temple 🏯
I visited the family temple of the Tokugawa clan. 🌈 It's truly a picturesque sight to see Tokyo Tower and the temple in the same frame, though the sun was really intense! 🌤️ Behind the temple, there are many Jizo statues, all dressed up in clothes and hats, some even holding pinwheels, creating a colorful array. 🌈Families who come to pray for their children's well-being will place a Jizo statue here. They write the child's name on it and dress it up to keep them warm and company, often adding a pinwheel. The outfits are diverse, ranging from Minion costumes to sports team uniforms. 🌈 When I was there, I happened to see an elderly lady in the hall asking a monk to chant sutras. 🌈 She then came over with new pinwheels to replace the old ones. The care and thought that families put into their children's well-being is truly touching, no matter the cultural context. 💖 #CulturalLandmarks #Travel #Tokyo #HiddenGems 🌟
