Tonchin Brooklyn π
Today I went to the botanical garden for some photos, and I just randomly picked a place to eat. ππΈ As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a pleasant woody aroma. The decor inside is quite charming. πΏ I ordered two cold dishes. One was the pink tartare. The fish was pretty fresh, but it was way too salty. There was way too much wasabi. Every bite was a blast of saltiness and spiciness... π₯£ The other was wagyu with vegetable leaves, which I quite liked. It had a refreshing taste. π₯¬ ππΈ Among the three hot dishes I ordered, the yellowtail was the best. It came with yam and ginger, which was a great combination. π£ The other two were shrimp dishes. I got three head-on shrimp for $28, but they were neither special nor fresh. The roasted pork with sauce was a bit greasy. To be honest, I found it pretty ordinary. π I also tried two types of noodles. There's a reason why the signature noodles are famous. The broth was really impressive. ππΈ The spicy dan dan noodles were too spicy, overshadowing other flavors. In comparison, I highly recommend the signature noodles. π Finally, I couldn't resist trying the shaved ice. The matcha shaved ice was a bit too sweet. The matcha powder itself was a bit bitter, but the combination was still pretty good. It would have been even better if it weren't so sweet. π§ To sum up, I felt like quite a few dishes were misses, but the ramen was really good and worth a try. π ππΈ #Tonchin #tonchinramen ππ
