Tonkotsu Ramen & Octopus Balls restruant in San Jose
๐ Hokkaido Ramen Santouka ๐It's been a year since I arrived in the Bay Area, and this is my first time trying Santouka. I'm not quite sure how to judge whether tonkotsu (pork bone) ramen is good or not, but this one isn't greasy at all. ๐Toroniku Ramen (L) $15.45๐ I chose the Spicy Miso flavor with pork neck meat. The miso broth is richer, and the pork neck meat, which is fatty and fragrant, is smooth and not greasy with a generous amount. It's even better than grilled pork neck meat. ๐Char-Siu Ramen + Char-Sui Rice Bowl (S) $14.45 โ A soy sauce flavored Char Siu ramen with a small portion of Char Siu rice bowl. It's nothing special; the small serving of noodles comes with only a small piece of Char Siu meat, and the rice bowl is not tasty. ๐Sake & Ikura Rice Bowl $6.5 I love salmon roe, so I ordered a simple salmon and salmon roe rice bowl, which is a bit salty. โโโ๐โโโ ๐Takoyaki Yama-chan ๐กNext door is a shop that makes takoyaki (octopus balls) on the spot. They offer various flavors of takoyaki, but they're just average; the fillings are not full, and they become soft and deflated when kept in a box. They also sell Okonomiyaki (Osaka-style pancakes) and Yakisoba (Japanese stir-fried noodles), and they also sell Mochi Donuts. ๐Kimchi Takoyaki I thought it would have spicy cabbage in the filling, but it's actually the regular takoyaki with some spicy cabbage on top. ๐Garlic Shoyu Takoyaki This one uses soy sauce instead of mayonnaise, and it's quite good. #San Jose#Hokkaido Ramen Santouka#Takoyaki Yama-chan#food diary#Tonkotsu Ramen#Octopus Balls
