Toronto | Perfect Spot for a Workday Hangout in the Financial District 👩🏻💼
Met up with a friend after work and discovered that Alo Food Group opened a new spot, Alobar Downtown, in the Financial District this May. The restaurant is clearly a go-to for business dinners and after-work catch-ups. We ordered 2 appetizers, 1 main, 2 sides, and 1 dessert. We were quite full by the end! ▫️ Pain au Lait: This classic four-square milk bread from Alo and Alobar is a must-try. At Alobar, you need to order it separately, and it comes with a slightly salty butter. It’s deliciously aromatic! 🥖🧈 ▫️ Creekstone Beef Carpaccio: Thinly sliced raw beef with Manchego cheese and breadcrumbs, topped with a layer of finely chopped chives, garlic, and egg yolk mayo. Quite tasty! 🥩🧀 ▫️ Tuna Tartare: Fresh tuna chunks paired with radishes, cucumber, and plums, dressed with French-style sour cream, and wrapped in little lettuce leaves. It’s incredibly refreshing and appetizing! 🥒🍑 ▫️ Braised Short Rib: Tender braised short ribs served with mushrooms, onions, and watercress. They even sliced the ribs into two pieces for sharing (a thoughtful touch). It came with what I think was basil sauce. Deliciously tender and hard to go wrong with! 🥩🍄 ▫️ Broccolini: A side of tender broccolini, a hybrid of broccoli and Chinese kale. I’m not a big vegetable fan, but I ate half a plate. It’s mildly spicy, though we asked for it to be made non-spicy. 🥦🌶️ ▫️ Mille-Feuille: For dessert, we chose the Napoleon pastry with three types of cream—light cream, raspberry cream, and custard, plus hidden raspberry jam. It’s perfectly balanced between sweet and tart. I personally think it’s better than the mille-feuille at Alder and Osteria Giulia. 🍰🍓 #TorontoEats #Toronto #CanadianLife #TorontoDining #TorontoFoodie #TorontoRestaurants #TorontoWeekend #TorontoDateNight #TorontoHiddenGems #TorontoDT #TorontoDTFood #TorontoBestFriends #TorontoFinancialDistrict #TorontoWorkLife #LivingInToronto ### Name: Alobar Downtown Address: 150 York St, Toronto Type: Restaurant ###
