Travel Diary: My Belo Horizonte Moments š§š·āØ
A few days in Belo Horizonte for a conference, but of course, I sneaked out to explore! Hereās what stuck with me: šļø First Impressions ⢠Minas Gerais stateāwhere "Minas" = mines & "Gerais" = fields? (My lazy Chinese logic at work š) ⢠Safe, orderly, and way less chaotic than Rio/SPābut not exactly a tourist hotspot. ā½ MineirĆ£o Stadium (The 7:1 Trauma Zone) šļø Brazilās 2nd-largest stadium, where Germany "broke football" in 2014⦠šŖ Kids fly kites outsideāspot the tiny red one against those Romanesque arches! āŖ Pampulhaās Blue-Tiled Church š¦ SĆ£o Francisco de Assis Churchāa modernist gem with azulejo tiles telling saintsā tales. š Sat inside, felt "signs" (secret stuff š), then watched cotton-candy sunsets by the lake. š· Mineiro Food & Drunk Confessions š¢ Local restaurant + 5 types of cachaƧa = first overseas blackout! š¤ Brazilians: "Letās bar-hop and sing!" Me: (Deeply moved⦠but hard pass.) š¼ļø Culture Fix š Liberty Squareās museums: Gemstones! Art! Even a bank-turned-gallery! šļø Shopped for amethyst blingābecause when in Minas, right? š³ Inhotim: Art Jungle Paradise šæ Open-air museums hidden in rainforestāplus a Zhang Huan sculpture (with himself as the turtle baseāmeta!). ā½ Village kids playing soccer en route = pure Brazil. šļø The Uber Moto Thrill Ride šØ 80° slopes + no seatbelts = "Is this a rollercoaster?!" (Driver: "TĆ” safe!") #BeloHorizonte #BrazilDiaries #SlowTravel
