Travel Diary: My Belo Horizonte Moments 🇧🇷✨

A few days in Belo Horizonte for a conference, but of course, I sneaked out to explore! Here’s what stuck with me: 🏙️ First Impressions • Minas Gerais state—where "Minas" = mines & "Gerais" = fields? (My lazy Chinese logic at work 😜) • Safe, orderly, and way less chaotic than Rio/SP—but not exactly a tourist hotspot. ⚽ Mineirão Stadium (The 7:1 Trauma Zone) 🏟️ Brazil’s 2nd-largest stadium, where Germany "broke football" in 2014… 🪁 Kids fly kites outside—spot the tiny red one against those Romanesque arches! ⛪ Pampulha’s Blue-Tiled Church 🟦 São Francisco de Assis Church—a modernist gem with azulejo tiles telling saints’ tales. 🌅 Sat inside, felt "signs" (secret stuff 😇), then watched cotton-candy sunsets by the lake. 🍷 Mineiro Food & Drunk Confessions 🍢 Local restaurant + 5 types of cachaça = first overseas blackout! 🎤 Brazilians: "Let’s bar-hop and sing!" Me: (Deeply moved… but hard pass.) 🖼️ Culture Fix 💎 Liberty Square’s museums: Gemstones! Art! Even a bank-turned-gallery! 🛍️ Shopped for amethyst bling—because when in Minas, right? 🌳 Inhotim: Art Jungle Paradise 🌿 Open-air museums hidden in rainforest—plus a Zhang Huan sculpture (with himself as the turtle base—meta!). ⚽ Village kids playing soccer en route = pure Brazil. 🏍️ The Uber Moto Thrill Ride 💨 80° slopes + no seatbelts = "Is this a rollercoaster?!"
