Travel Fragments from Southern Italy | Bari
A small port city in southern Italy—Bari completely stole my heart unexpectedly. 💖 The city’s layout is fascinating: ✨ On one side, there’s the charming old town brimming with life—cobblestone streets, ancient churches, clotheslines strung between buildings, and grandmothers making handmade pasta right at their doorsteps. 🍝 🌊 On the other side, an endless coastline stretches out, where the golden hues of the sunset sink straight into your soul, so beautiful you could just sit there all afternoon. If you’re traveling to southern Italy, don’t just rush to Sicily or big cities! Bari deserves at least two days to soak in the slow-paced rhythm of southern Italian life. Bari is the capital of Italy’s Puglia region and a gorgeous coastal city. I stayed here for three nights, joining a local walking tour in the old town and even learning to make the famous orecchiette ("little ears" pasta) at a local grandma’s (Porcia) house—it was divine! I also tried Bari’s renowned octopus sandwich (panino col polpo), and wow—so flavorful! 🐙 ☀️ The weather here is hot, and many shops close from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM for a break . Most restaurants don’t open until 7:00 PM for dinner—typical Italian style! #ItalyTravel #ItalianCuisine #BariItaly #Puglia #SlowTravel
