✅ Stunning Beaches: Praia do Curral and Praia da Feiticeira are perfect for swimming and sunbathing. ✅ Hiking Adventures: It’s rare to find hiking opportunities on an island! While I prefer hiking over sunbathing, we chose a trail near our hotel due to our two young children. The path led halfway up the mountain, offering breathtaking views of the ocean from the summit. A nearby waterfall cascaded beautifully, though we couldn’t venture deep into the rainforest. ✅ Water Activities: Classic island offerings like diving, surfing, and kayaking won’t disappoint — the rich biodiversity here is incredible. ✅ Jeep Tour: We booked a full-day jungle Jeep tour with a seaside lunch. Though thrilling, the rough terrain and constant jolting gave both my partner and me acute ear infections. ✅ Historical Sites: The island boasts well-preserved historic architecture, including the Church of Santa Isabel and 19th-century houses — highly photogenic! ✅ Best Time to Visit: May to September (dry season). The rainy season typically runs from October to April. ✅ Essentials to Pack: Hiking shoes and sunscreen are must-haves. The winding mountain trails, hidden waterfalls deep in the forest, and the rewarding panoramic ocean views from the summit make every effort worth it.
