Travel Snippets in Spain | Madrid Royal Palace
On the second day of arriving in Madrid, after having McDonald’s for breakfast 🍔, we set off to the Royal Palace of Madrid. (The chicken wings at Spanish McDonald’s are really delicious! I had them several times.) There were a ton of people in line, and we queued for about 20 minutes at the entrance before getting in. Luckily, we had bought our tickets online 🎫. The staff said that those with online tickets would enter first, followed by those buying tickets on-site. I had to queue for 20 minutes with an online ticket, so those buying on-site had to wait even longer. Once inside, I found it truly beyond expectations! The palace is the epitome of luxury, with every room evoking a gasp of admiration. The 5 EUR audio guide 🎧 was especially good, with a normal human voice. The palace’s route design is also excellent, with no need to retrace your steps to see everything. 😊 Fortunately, I happened to catch the monthly changing of the guard ceremony, which was today, and at the time slot I had booked! After touring the inside of the palace from 11 am to 12 pm, the performance started right at 12 pm. I was lucky enough to watch the military band enter and exit up close, and then I saw the performance from outside. In the end, I even got a photo with the soldiers! Right next to the palace is the Almudena Cathedral ⛪️, which is free to enter. It’s so big and solemn; I would have loved to sit inside for a bit longer if I had the time. 🍴 Lunch was at Vinitus Restaurant, so delicious!!! Roasted eggplant, cod, grilled red shrimp, steak with foie gras, each dish was better than the last. I also ordered a Sangria fruit wine 🍹, and after a couple of sips, I started feeling a bit tipsy, haha 🔍 Tips for the Madrid Royal Palace Opening Hours: Monday to Saturday 10:00-18:00 Sunday 10:00-16:00 Price: 12 EUR Official Website: patrimonionacional.es You need to select an entry time slot when buying tickets.
