Tsukiji Hachiman Shrine: A Refined Shrine with a Maritime Flair ๐ฏ
While strolling through Tsukiji Market, I stumbled upon Tsukiji Hachiman Shrine standing proudly nearby and decided to take a look inside. ๐ฃ ๐บ๐ฟ ๐ This area is actually a land reclamation site. As early as the time of Tokugawa Ieyasu, in 1658, land reclamation began from Tsukiji Honganji, ๐บ๐ฟ but the project was repeatedly hindered by large waves. It is said that after the enshrinement of the (God of Five Grains) found in the sea, ๐บ๐ฟ the waves calmed, and the project was successfully completed. This is the origin of "Hachiman" (Wave-Subduing). ๐บ๐ฟ Here, you can find small statues dedicated to seafood and food, such as the "Ebizo (Prawn Grave)," "Sushi-zuka (Sushi Grave)," and "Tamago-zuka (Egg Grave)." ๐ฆ๐ฃ๐ฅ ๐บ๐ฟ A very delicate and maritime-themed shrine. ๐ #Japan ๐พ#Tokyo ๐๏ธ#TsukijiMarket ๐ฆ#HachimanShrine ๐ฐ
