📍 Two Days in Cardiff
My first stop in the UK was Cardiff, the capital of Wales 🏴. Getting from Gatwick Airport to Cardiff required two train changes — and with only 5 minutes between transfers (and unfamiliar with the platforms), I missed the Elizabeth Line 😅. That meant I also missed my GWR connection at Paddington. After some (unsuccessful) arguing, I had to buy a new ticket… 🏨 — Stayed at Four Points Flex by Sheraton. It was the best value accommodation of my UK trip… but also the tiniest 😅 A 10m² bunk room. Although relatively new, it’s already showing some wear. Location was unbeatable though — right next to Clayton Hotel, just 2 minutes from the station. Honestly, the whole city centre is pretty compact. 🏙️ — Main sights: Cardiff Castle, National Museum, and Cardiff Bay. There seemed to be a music festival going on recently — the castle was fenced off, so we didn’t go inside. Instead, we wandered through Bute Park 🌳 — very natural and peaceful! Near the café entrance, you can catch a boat to Cardiff Bay (departs hourly ⛴️; we took the 12:30; £7.5 per person; plenty of seating). The Bay area has full resort vibes — Ferris wheel 🎡, lots of cafés and burger joints. We checked out the Millennium Centre and the white church ⛪ before taking the bus back… and realized just how close everything actually is! 🍜 — Didn’t eat anything mind-blowing, but nothing was terrible either. Jollibee’s chicken burger was similar to McDonald’s Spicy McChicken back home 🍔 Tried a highly-rated fish & chips place at the Bay — a bit dry 🐟 The mixed milkshake next door was extremely sweet… 🥤 A popular steakhouse on the main street served my well-done steak as over-cooked 😬 Before leaving, I grabbed some Welsh cakes and a lemon tart. Only tried the pancake-like cake so far — not very memorable, but the fridge magnet I bought is absolutely lovely! 🧇❤️ #Cardiff #TravelUK #Wales #CityBreak #TravelDiary #FoodReview
