🌟 Ultimate Izu Travel Guide 🌟
Let me introduce you to the ultimate travel guide for Izu! Sightseeing Routes: Izu is divided into four areas: East, South, Central, and West. East, Central, and South Izu can be reached by train to the station and then explored by bus. West Izu is not accessible by train. East Izu: 1-day tour with popular and fixed spots. The overall route is mature, and since there are only three main attractions, it's suitable for quick visits. Bus connections are timely. Ōshima Yama: Known as the matcha mountain from May to September, became famous from the movie "Your Name." Jōgasaki Coast: Hiking along the coastline, including the Kadoizumi Suspension Bridge. Cactus Zoo: Rich in flora and fauna, great for feeding capybaras and strong family interaction. Komore Yama: Lush with flowers, great for climbing and sea viewing. South Izu: 1-3 days tour. Reach the final station of the Izu Kyuko Line, Izu Jitomata Station, and use public transportation to explore by bus around Shimoda Station. South Izu has many attractions, but the bus runs only once an hour and stops at 4 PM. Additionally, many attractions cannot be connected by bus, requiring a return to Shimoda Station to start again. Therefore, a one-day tour can only cover 2-3 attractions. It's best to rent a car/drive yourself. I've divided South Izu attractions into three parts, with starred ones being popular spots. ① Kawazu Station: Kawazu cherry blossoms and Kawazu Nanadaru, seasonal, early cherry blossoms bloom in February. ② Around Shimoda Station Shimoda Seaquarium: Suitable for family visits. Shimoda Park: Seasonal, filled with beautiful hydrangeas in June. Shirahama Beach & Torii: Classic and popular, beach resort + torii gate built on the rocks. Black Ship Cable Car/Cruise: Just a short walk from Shimoda Station, the cable car goes up to an observation deck for a sea view, and the cruise goes out to sea. Zumi Cape: Large park for sea viewing. Ryūgū Cave: Classic and popular, with a unique cave landscape. ③ South of Shimoda Station Irozaki: Classic and popular, the southernmost point of the Izu Peninsula, offering a view of the jelly-like sea from the cliffs. Hizizo Beach & Yusuge Park: Off-the-beaten-path, close to each other, Hizizo is a diving holy land in Japan. Yumigahama: Crescent bay, perfect for lying flat and vacationing. Central Izu: 1-day tour, centered around Shuzenji, with attractions leaning towards history and culture. West Izu: 1-day tour, inconvenient transportation, can only be accessed by car/renting a car. The coastal route features attractions like viewing Mount Fuji, unique volcanic rock landscapes, seaside leisure vacations, and stunning sunset sea views. For more detailed guides on transportation, food, and accommodation, stay tuned. Transportation: Generally, follow the Izu Kyuko Line train, and connect to attractions by bus after getting off. Some places have inconvenient transportation and require driving. Accommodation: Choose hotels around Izu-Nokawa, Atagawa, and Ito stations.
