📍 Our first stop in Vancouver? Yue Restaurant in Richmond—kicking off our dim sum journey! Before our trip, we researched top-rated dim sum spots, and Bao Yue Xuan stood out for its proximity to our hotel and rave reviews (plus, it’s owned by Hong Kong star Michael Miu—how cool!). Here’s what we tried: 🍽️ Dim Sum Highlights ✨ Scallop & Asparagus Dumpling Visually stunning—emerald-green wrapper stuffed with plump shrimp, topped with a whole scallop and fish roe. A texture and flavor bomb! ✨ Crab Roe Pork Siu Mai Juicy and hefty, but fairly traditional. Solid choice if you love classic siu mai. ✨ Pumpkin Steamed Spare Ribs Tender ribs atop sweet pumpkin soaked in savory juices. A perfect sweet-savory balance! ✨ Steamed Chicken Feet in Black Bean Sauce Soft, flavorful, and easy to eat—but not particularly memorable. ✨ Steamed Chicken with Cordyceps Flowers HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! The chicken was silky smooth, and the cordyceps added a subtle, herbal freshness. So refined and nourishing! ✨ Crispy Taro Nest with Scallops Shaped like a mini bird’s nest, this was a standout! Crunchy exterior with creamy taro and curry-seasoned scallops inside—unexpectedly delicious! ✨ Pork Liver Rice Noodle Roll An adventurous pick, but pork liver isn’t my thing. Skip if you’re not a fan. ✨ Lava Custard Buns (Liu Sha Bao) GOLDEN, OOZING custard with rich salted egg yolk flavor—not too sweet, not too salty. A must-order! ✨ Baked Milk Egg Tart The crust was flakier than usual, almost like a Chinese pastry. The filling was lightly sweet—pleasant but not mind-blowing. ✨ Crispy Egg Puffs (Farm Egg Puffs) Airy and sugar-dusted, but… honestly, we didn’t get the hype.
