Vietnamese Food in St. Louis β MaiLee
Recently, I added a Vietnamese restaurant in St. Louis, MaiLee, to my regular canteen list. This shop has been around for 40 years, and the taste is really greatβI can't help but recommend it to everyone! π I tried their coconut curry duck leg noodle soup. The broth is sweet and savory, with a rich aroma of coconut and curry, and you can even taste crushed peanuts, making the texture very diverse. It comes with a whole big duck leg, generous portion! If you like sweet and savory flavors, this is definitely worth a try. π My classmate ordered the Vietnamese raw beef pho, and I had a taste. The broth is clear but slightly sweet; I thought a clear broth being sweet was a bit unusual. π However, my classmate said the beef was tender and fresh, the beef meatball was delicious too, but there was only one. It came with a large plate of vegetable side dishes, quite sufficient in portion. π² The fried spring rolls left a deep impression on me! They're large, fully stuffed, crispy outside and tender inside, really super delicious. Although each costs over $4, a bit expensive, the taste is absolutely worth it. Highly recommended! π« We also shared the mango sticky rice with coconut sauce. The coconut flavor is rich, and the glutinous rice coated in coconut sauce has a wonderful texture. It's a bit sweet, but much better than American cookies. If the mango were of better quality, with some sourness and juiciness, the flavor would be more balanced. Unfortunately, this time the mango was a bit bland, overpowered by the coconut sauce. It's recommended for four people to share one order, just a couple of bites each is perfect. π₯ Overall, there were no disappointing dishes this time; everyone thought what they ordered was delicious, and the shared dishes were satisfying too. When the weather gets cold in winter, I'll definitely come here often for some warm soupy dishes! β€οΈ #VietnameseCuisine #FoodRecommendation #StLouis #CoconutCurry #FriedSpringRolls #MangoStickyRice #NewCanteenFavorite
