Vigeland Sculpture Park: Inspiring Thoughts on Life and Death
📍 Vigeland Sculpture Park: Vigelandsanlegget is one of Oslo's most famous attractions. This nearly 50-hectare park is named after the Norwegian sculptor Gustav Vigeland, and it features 192 sculptures with a total of 650 human statues, all made from copper, iron, or granite materials. Vigeland spent over 20 years meticulously crafting these works. 🔍 Highlights: These are not ordinary statues but rather a concentrated display of a profound theme—life and death. Starting from the birth of an infant, through childhood, adolescence, youth, adulthood, old age, and finally death, it reflects the entire process of life. Seeing it is shocking and even thought-provoking. 🚶♂️ Tour Route: Park Entrance: Enter from the east side of Kirkeveien Avenue, and as soon as you enter, there is a path leading straight to the center of the park. Bridge of Life: Walk along the ramp for about five minutes, and you will see a magnificent bridge spanning over a pond. The bridge has four granite pillars at the corners, and the railings are decorated with 58 bronze statues, showing the inner world and the vicissitudes of life of characters of different ages and genders. Fountain of Life: After crossing the bridge, you can see a fountain with six male statues holding up the basin in the center, surrounded by four statues symbolizing different stages of life. The paving around the fountain is designed in a labyrinth pattern, symbolizing the complexity of life. Monolith of Life: Located in the center of the circular steps, it is a work that Vigeland spent 14 years carving. The stone pillar is 17 meters high and engraved with 121 reliefs of men, women, and children of different ages, depicting the scene of people dissatisfied with earthly life and climbing to "heaven." This is the essence of the park. Circle of Life: In a certain area of the park, you can find sculptures symbolizing the cycle of life and interpersonal relationships. Vigeland Museum: If time permits, you can head south to visit the Vigeland Museum to learn more about the life and works of this sculptor. Personally, I think this is the most worthwhile place to visit in Oslo. #Park #Scenic #Fragments #Alone #NatureSharing #Drawing #Norway #NorwayAttractions #Oslo
