Weekend City Walk in Amman, Jordan 🚶♂️
Since my energy levels weren’t up for exploring the entire old city, a well-traveled colleague who’d lived in Jordan recommended two iconic spots: the Roman Theatre and Amman Citadel. Perfect for a relaxed half-day stroll! 1️⃣ Roman Theatre 🏟️ ⏰ 3:00 PM: Took a taxi there. 🎟️ Ticket: 2 JD (~¥20). Inside: A semicircular staircase with two tiny side museums (showcasing traditional clothing/artifacts)—20 mins max. Main Theatre: Climb to the top for the best photos! Whole visit took under 1 hour (hot + not much to do). Closes at 5:00 PM. Bonus: Nearby, there’s a smaller, quieter theatre plaza—great for chilling in the shade. ☕️ 2️⃣ Amman Citadel 🏰 🚖 Taxi from Theatre: Despite Google Maps saying it’s a 20-min walk, it’s a steep hike—just taxi (~¥20). 🎟️ Ticket: 3 JD (~¥30, Jordan Pass accepted). Highlights: Ancient ruins, a small mosque, and those iconic Roman columns (prime photo ops!). Views: Stunning panoramas of Amman, including the Roman Theatre across the city. ⏳ Timing: Officially closes at 7:00 PM, but no one rushed us out. Locals stayed till sunset (~8:00 PM in summer—missed it, sadly!). 🐱 Best Moments: Petting stray cats among the ruins. 😻 Playing with adorable local kids (who were so excited to see an East Asian face!). Chatting with friendly Jordanians—their chill vibes are contagious! Final Thoughts 💭 A low-key, stress-free way to spend a weekend afternoon—no rush, just soaking in history and local life. #Jordan #JordanPass #VisitJordan #AmmanWalks #TravelSlow #WeekendVibes
