Weihong: St. Louis’ Best Spot for Chinese Dim Sum & Roast Meats
The location we frequent is the one on Olive Boulevard, right next to Aldi. Every time we go, two items are non-negotiable: sesame balls and rice cakes—and the rice cakes are absolute perfection 👏👏! They have that chewy, bouncy texture we love, and they’re not overly sweet. The owner told us the secret is using freshly ground rice—no wonder they’re so delightfully springy! This spot is a treasure trove of classic Chinese pastries, plus hand-made mooncakes 🥮. Everything is made in-house by their kitchen team—sometimes when you arrive, they’ll ask you to wait just two minutes so you can take home freshly baked treats, still warm from the oven! There’s nothing better than biting into a hot pastry right after buying it—total comfort food bliss. Their roast meats are just as amazing, and the braised dishes are great too. Right before Christmas last year, we saw a Black lady in front of us buying three whole roast ducks. She laughed and said her kids beg for Weihong’s roast duck every Christmas, so she always has to get three to satisfy them 😂. It’s safe to say this place has won over even local families—not just Chinese folks! Their roast duck is way better than the one at Pan Asia—no unpleasant fishy aftertaste (honestly, their dim sum is also miles ahead of Pan Asia’s too). #SatisfyYourChineseStomach #StLouis #NotTooSweetPastries #InternationalStudentsCookingVibes #StudyAbroadEats
