Wellington Relaxed Family City Walk Guide 🇳🇿👨👩👧👦
We turned our trip to Wellington for our eldest's travel certificate into a perfect family getaway! Though the weather wasn't ideal, we still hit all the must-see spots. 📝 Itinerary DAY 1 🏛️ Parliament Tour → 🍽️ Lunch at Bellamys (Parliament Dining Room) → 📸 Jay Chou’s Old Bank Arcade Spot → 🎨 City Gallery (Giant Hand & Face Sculpture - Under Renovation!) DAY 2 🏛️ Te Papa Museum (Rainy Day Savior!) → 📸 "WELLINGTON" Sign at Waterfront (Near Solace in the Wind Statue) → 🌈 Cuba Street (Rainbow Crosswalk!) (We skipped the zoo due to rain, but it’s great for kids!) 📌 Key Tips 1️⃣ Book ahead for Parliament tours & Bellamys dining (strict security!). 2️⃣ City Gallery’s giant hand sculpture is moving to Australia—catch it while you can! 3️⃣ Te Papa Museum = Perfect rainy-day escape for families. 4️⃣ "WELLINGTON" sign is right by the waterfront (search Solace in the Wind statue). 5️⃣ Wellington Zoo is great for kids (we skipped this time due to weather). 🚗 Transport Drove from Hastings (self-driving gives flexibility with kids!). 🏡 Accommodation 3-Bedroom Townhouse in Lower Hutt (20 mins from CBD) ✅ Super kid-friendly: Toys, books, even a mini potty! ✅ New, clean & great value—ideal for families not rushing. 🍽️ Kid-Approved Eats 1️⃣ Bellamys (Parliament Dining) – Unique experience, decent Western food. 2️⃣ Jing Wei Shi Zu (Peking Duck!) – Tasty Chinese, visited twice! 3️⃣ El Matador – Huge portions, great-value Argentinian grill. 4️⃣ Coene’s Bar Eatery – Overpriced, small portions (skip unless you want the view). #FamilyTravel #NZWithKids #WellingtonWalks #CityGuide #TravelWithKids
