Who doesn’t have a grandma who can cook better than this? 🌟
Is New York adding yet another hybrid place? Why does every Chinese restaurant need dim sum?? Even with low expectations for authenticity, I was still a bit disappointed. Maybe it was just the dishes I ordered, but claiming they’re on par with domestic flavors feels like a stretch. 😳 The decor sticks to the same dim, moody Chinese vibe. Lately, New York’s Chinese restaurants that try to set a good atmosphere all go for this look, but if the food doesn’t measure up, the decor alone can’t save it. 🏠 🐔 Grandma’s Tea-Infused Chicken 🌕 A large portion, enough for 3-4 people. The restaurant’s signature dish, but the chicken is dry, and the sauce lacks flavor. To get any taste, you have to keep dipping it in the sauce, which is super salty. We couldn’t stop drinking water. Pretty ordinary. 🍲 Steamed Fish Hot Pot 🌕 Also a signature dish, slightly better than the chicken with a bit more flavor complexity, but still very salty. There are few fish slices—though it looks like a big bowl, most of it is just scallions, ginger, and garlic. You get maybe one or two slices per person. The neighboring table’s scallion oil perch looked and smelled more appetizing. 🐟 #NewYork 🌆🌟
