Why Didn't I Come Earlier?! Jaw-Droppingly Beautiful!
After all these years in New York, this is my first visit to the New York Historical Society Museum. The museum may not be huge, but it's packed with heavyweight exhibits! ๐ Right now, they're featuring an exhibition of jewelry and objets d'art by Carvin French Jeweler. It's truly eye-opening! Andre Chervin, a jeweler from the 1950s, crafted pieces for major brands like Bulgari. The items on display are treasures from his workshop, and the exquisite materials and thoughtful designs left me utterly amazed. Jewelry is something you see often, but these objets d'art are truly rare! ๐ My favorite piece is a salt and pepper shaker set. Can you imagine using 18k gold, coral, and opals for salt and pepper shakers?!! The craftsmanship is incredible. The shakers are shaped like mushrooms, complete with detailed gills on the bottom. Even the enamel grass and the emeralds and rubies on the mushroom caps add a charming, woodland effect. ๐ There's also a small gemstone landscape that reminded me of the gemstone landscapes in the Forbidden Cityโvery delicate and intricate. ๐ฟ Another standout is a white onyx lotus flower. The description mentioned gold, pink diamonds, and moonstone. I searched for a while and finally found that the tiny dewdrops on the lotus leaves are made of moonstone. So lifelike! ๐ง The exhibition includes eleven lamps, and you can see them lit up on the hour. But they're only on for about two minutes, so don't miss it! ๐ #NYCLife #MuseumVisit #Jewelry #GoldAndGems #ArtisticMasterpieces
