After spending over 10 days exploring 7 different beaches in Zanzibar and trying almost everything fun, hereβs my ultimate eat-stay-play guide for the island! π΄π 1οΈβ£ Nungwi Beach Crystal-clear waters, super photogenic πΈ Highly commercialized, but great for dolphin tours & snorkeling ($10/person) π½οΈ Restaurant: MJ Cafe Restaurant π¨ Stay: Nungwi House 2οΈβ£ Paje Beach Best for kite surfing πͺ Lots of local eateries, easy bus access to Jambiani (tide-pooling) & The Rock Restaurant in Pingwe π½οΈ Restaurants: Corner Cafe β Cheesy baked lobster (Β₯80/$11 each!) π¦ Gonaru Restaurant β Cheap & tasty fried chicken π No-name local joint opposite Rooftop Cafe β Grilled lamb chops (Β₯20/$3), beef soup (Β₯6/$0.8) β huge portions but questionable hygiene π 3οΈβ£ Michamvi Beach Stunning sunset spot π , very secluded Activities: Mangrove kayaking (clear boats!), tide-pooling π¨ Hotel: Michamvi Spirit (pool, great vibes, 20 cats π±) β haggled to $40/night w/ breakfast! π½οΈ Restaurant: Wing It β Huge portions (one dish feeds two!) + epic sunset views 4οΈβ£ Uzi Peninsula Hidden paradise π΄ β coconut palm beaches, fireflies, fish auctions $0.40 CRABS! π¦ (yes, 3 RMB each!) π¨ Stay: Menai Bay Beach Bungalow (entrance to Uzi, since high tide floods the peninsula) π Fish Market: At low tide, bid on fresh seafood or just watch the lively auction! π Day Trip: Rent a car to explore the southern coconut beaches β pristine & empty! 5οΈβ£ Kizimkazi Beach Swim with turtles & dolphins π¬ (less crowded than Nungwi, closer encounters!) Turtle snorkeling is magical (check my last post for pics!) π¨ Hotel: Karamba Eco Boutique β Super chic but pricey. Just grab a drink if not staying! π½οΈ Restaurant: 27 July Food Lovers Final Thoughts π Nungwi = touristy ποΈ Paje = lively & foodie heaven π½οΈ Michamvi & Uzi = peaceful & hidden gems β¨ Kizimkazi = unique (dolphins!) but limited food options π¬ Questions?
