Chicken Hutt — Restaurant in Adelaide

This place was our favourite chicken shop up until today. I called to place an order for Christmas Eve. And the lady who answered the phone was very dry and blunt, like it was such an Inconvenience to be taking my order. Then after that, she then rudely cut me off while taking my order to inform me they "don't cut people's chickens" (didn't explain until after I mentioned to her that I had previously ordered there lots of times before, and had my chickens cut for me, that it was only over Christmas time) but then after interrupting me, she then told me she actually didn't think they were taking any more orders as it was, so she went and asked someone else in the shop, and the other person responded in the background, "NO NO NO MORE ORDERS" she then came back to the phone and bluntly told me they weren't taking no more orders. It was then that I said, "that's fine, however I have had my chickens cut for me before" she then responded with "yeh we usually do but not on Christmas it's to busy we can't handle the extra pressure, and it's to hard for us to cut people's chickens for them along with everything else." She was so rude to me that I couldn't even be bothered letting her finish, so I said "not a problem seeya later" and ended the call. Because of this one lady, I have now been put off of this chicken shop. Which is a shame. All it takes is one person to change a customers view. We won't be returning any more. Word of advice, if you don't like your job, and can't be polite to your customers, you shouldn't be in that type of industry....

Edit: came home to eat the food, the crumbs were burned but took a couple bites anyway and the texture was off. Peeled the fish open and inside wasnt cooked through and had a gluggy layer of raw batter between the fish and the crumbs. May vomit tonight. The rest went in the bin.

Unfortunately has gone downhill with the new owners. Very unorganised, multiple staff not appearing to know what they're doing. Ordered a simple fish and chips pack but the four people who orded after me got their meals first. The fish was burned yet not hot as I had to wait so long for the chips to be added. When my order was ready I asked if they just kept forgetting my order and they said it was delayed because I asked for my fish to be crumbed...which makes no sense. The guy who ordered right after me asked for crumbed fish and he got his before me. It wasn't even very busy. Would have gone to Champion but it was an hour wait. There's a reason why they are so popular! Will not be coming back. Used to love this place. I rarely do a review but this was so bad it...

Review update: Agree with most other comments now. As time has gone by we have found that the chickens are not browned on the outside like they used to be. Last time we bought coleslaw it was overloaded with dressing and chunks of cabbage, with grated carrot sprinkled on top. Never buying chicken, coleslaw and hot dogs ever again.

To be honest we only buy chicken, chips and salads from here and wouldn’t have noticed the change in ownership. All are cooked the same and the salads are exactly the same as well. Maybe the salads are bought in bulk by the shop which is why they are exactly the same. We often found that the previous owners could be really rude at times and so far we haven’t had any of that with the new owners. As for hygiene I order over the phone and only in the store for a few minutes and I haven’t really paid attention but will from now on. No, we don’t know the owners and I have made plenty of reviews over the years so...
