Tucked away in Adelaide’s charming east end lies a hidden gem that completely blew us away - Loc. From the moment we stepped into this intimate wine bar, we knew we were in for something special.
The evening kicked off with a warm welcome from Lewis, whose attentive, down-to-earth service set the tone for what would become an unforgettable night. Sitting at the chef’s counter, our favourite kind of wine bar experience. we had front-row seats to watch Chef Julia in her element. There’s something magical about watching someone cook with so much heart, using nothing but an induction cooker and sheer brilliance to deliver next-level dishes.
We tried the entire menu that night, and not a single dish missed. Each plate was a masterclass in flavour and texture, a fusion of Asian inspiration, bold spice, delicate balance, and layers of umami that felt like a journey for the palate. Every bite was thoughtful, exciting, and deeply satisfying. From crispy perfection to silky sauces and bold garnishes, it was texture from the gods and flavours we didn’t even know we were craving.
Chef Julia’s style is refined yet playful, modern yet deeply soulful, and getting to chat with her while she cooked added a personal touch you just don’t get at most places. It’s a rare joy to not only taste incredible food but to connect with the creative mind behind it in such an intimate, welcoming space.
Loc is a vibe. Cosy, relaxed, and seriously impressive, this is the kind of place you want to keep to yourself but also can’t stop raving about. We had an amazing experience and will be talking about it (and craving those flavours) for a long time.
A must-visit for anyone who loves food with soul and wine bars...
Read moreReally odd experience. We came in after lunch for a glass of wine but were told by the girl working there that they “only do coffee”. When we asked her about the bar sign and bottles of wine everywhere she conceded she could “probably do something” and sent us to another girl to help. We then had to wait around while the second girl finished her conversation behind the bar (no acknowledgement of customers). When she finally did acknowledge us, she was hugely perfunctory and not at all helpful with selecting a wine. We weren’t told the price of what we were drinking or offered a tasting, just very quickly had our glasses filled with something from SA. The whole atmosphere was really unwelcoming and generally just gave the impression we were in the way. Really not what I...
Read morepretty space, decent food, vibes were ntb. we ordered a few small plates and the waiter was nice.
food was slightly overpriced for what they are, but it’s the atmosphere you pay for. wines were around $17 per glass and they don’t have a menu, so you dont know how much you’re paying until you’re billed. i understand the concept though, they are a wine bar after all, but have a preference of knowing the price prior to ordering.
decent space to hang out with your friends, but energy of the space feels quite pretentious. it felt like unless you know the owner or people who work there, or if you were heavily involved the hospo industry, you’re not gonna getting the...
