Bompas Restaurant & Accommodation — Restaurant in Beachport

Location is A+|There is so much potential for this establishment if someone was to get it right.|We arrived at approx 4pm on a Friday afternoon, the reaction we got when walking through the door was as though we were inconveniencing staff. We asked for a drinks menu, they had none. Asked about cocktails, and a few names were rattled off so we chose 2. We asked about dinner to be told "yes..we do dinner." with no offer to book or any further information. We were also told that due to a band playing, we would probably have to leave by 5 but could sit outside on the chairs with umbrellas. We headed outside and sat, after 15 minutes we received our cocktails (they need some work). Wanting to give Bompa's a fair go, I decided to order a couple more drinks. Again received with a cold reception to be further told that we were sitting on reserved tables, when I responded that they told us to sit outside and did not specify on which tables, I was again left feeling as I was inconveniencing staff, and told again we must leave just before 5. We received our drinks, a beer and g&t, the beer was warm and the g&t wasn't the best. |We visit Beachport a few times a year to stay and Bompa's is in such close proximity to our accommodation we were excited to hear it was under new management, sadly on this occasion they missed the mark. We would have loved to have supported local,stay for dinner and had an enjoyable night....

Decided to come for Easter Monday breakfast in the diner space.

Ordered food.

Ham and cheese croissant: Came out cold, the cheese was 1 slice of American cheddar cut in half and placed on 2 thin circular ham. Quickly zapped to stay on each ham and slapped together in a cold bready croissant.

The ham and cheese omelette: Came out cold, the omelette had been previously frozen as the top was water wriggled. Menu stated shredded ham, it had small diced ham such as a frozen packet would. The bread (not toasted) had a quick slop of tomato chutney.

The kids scrambled eggs: Never came and then was given the big breakfast which we had to deny due to child being autistic and needing plain food.

Coffee: Well it never came.

All in all bad service and bad food.

Staff on wasn’t sure what to do. Ended up having to speak to manager who said it was not frozen etc. we ended up getting a refund.

Sigh….. what a way to finish off a lovely Easter weekend in...
