I recently dined at Banana Leaf Thai Restaurant and had a great experience. The menu offers a solid selection of Thai classics, and everything we tried was well-prepared and flavorful.
We ordered Garlic Pepper Beef, Chicken Pad Thai, Beef Pad See Ew, Thai Prawn Fried Rice, and Duck Lava. The Garlic Pepper Beef was tender and well-seasoned, the Pad Thai had a nice balance of flavors, and the Pad See Ew had that signature smoky wok taste. The Thai Prawn Fried Rice was fragrant and well-cooked, making for a satisfying dish.
The standout of the night, however, was the Duck Lava. The duck was perfectly crispy on the outside while staying tender inside, and the sauce was rich, slightly spicy, and packed with flavor. It was easily the most memorable dish and something I’d come back for.

Kudos to the nice lady who offered to make a mix of entree for the price of $11.90 for my partner and I. Unfortunately that wasn’t enough to give this place any more than 1 star. We had sat down at 7:25pm (we were the only ones at this restaurant seated by the way) and our mains did not come out until around 8:05pm. With a wait of 30 minutes you’d expect to be informed and at least have a decent dish come out. We had ordered the Chicken Pad Thai ($17.90) and Prawn Fried Rice ($21.90). For the price we paid they were not worth the wait and cost. Whatever is in the description on the menu, that’s what you literally get also- fried rice (rice, egg, onion and 4 pcs of prawns). DO NOT EAT HERE....we were just served raw chicken wings !!!! ...the bone on the wing was cold and by raw I'm not talking pink blood, I am talking bright red blood!!...how difficult is it to cook chicken wings ?Will be taking this further to both Brisbane City Council and QLD Health. The owner's care factor was zero !!...even had a smirk on her face!
On top of that the table wasn't clean, no tableware at all. I am moving house tomorrow and have truck booked for 8am Banana Leaf owner better hope like hell we are not sick tomorrow!
