Shocking Rip-Off – Dishonest, Rude and a Total Disgrace
I have never been this disgusted with a restaurant in my life. The Italian Plate at Hamilton has completely lost the plot — and if you're thinking of eating here, DON’T. You will be throwing your money into a place that treats customers like idiots and serves up dishonest garbage.
We ordered two Linguine al Pesce, which is meant to come with Moreton Bay bugs, prawns, scallops, etc. What did we get? One plate had zero bug meat — just an empty shell. The other? Maybe a third of what should be there. Not an accident — this looked deliberate. And I’ve been coming here for years, so I know what the dish is supposed to look like. This was a blatant attempt to cut corners and hope the customer wouldn’t notice.
When I brought it up, the waitress (barely speaking English) brushed me off saying, “the meat is in the pasta.” Seriously? Do they think I’m that stupid? The bug meat was not there. End of story.
And then it gets even worse — another staff member had the nerve to tell me that if I had a problem, I should get up from my table and walk into the kitchen to speak to the chef myself. What kind of joke of a restaurant operates like this? It was one of the most insulting and absurd things I’ve ever been told as a paying customer.
This isn’t just bad service. It’s dishonest, arrogant, and unacceptable. The food was a scam, the attitude was disgraceful, and they clearly don’t care about customer loyalty or basic respect.
Save yourself the disappointment and the rage. There are far better Italian restaurants in Brisbane that won’t serve you empty shells and then gaslight you about it. The Italian Plate is a joke — and the joke’s on anyone who eats...
Read moreCame here with my girlfriend for a weekday date night as we had an EatClub promotion. Ambience was quite nice for a small outdoor seated restaurant. it was also quite busy for a weekday which seemed promising.
We ordered the traditional carbonara ($28) carnivora pizza ($28) and my girlfriend got a aranciata drink ($6). The carnivora pizza came the quickest, and was overall pretty good. The toppings worked together quite nicely, and the crust was very nice, crispy and airy.
However, the carbonara took longer to come, meaning the pizza base got a bit soft and soggy in the meantime. They additionally brought out the wrong carbonara as well. Instead of the traditional, they brought out their normal carbonara. Once brought to their attention they were quick to resolve this issue and bring out the right order, which was nice. The carbonara though was a bit underwhelming. There was a lack of black pepper, which is quite important to me especially as the dish only has 5 ingredients. The sauce was also quite watery unfortunately.
We also had to chase up on the drink as we had been waiting a long time, and our food had already come before it. The drink itself was pleasant. When paying for the bill, the waiter discounted our meal by 10% for the inconveniences, which was very much appreciated and kind of them.
Overall, would consider coming back here if I had another eat club deal and I was in the area, but not worth a...
Read moreVery disappointing experience, especially considering the restaurant wasn’t even busy.
The waitress came to our table with our main meals while our entree plates were still sitting there — not even an attempt to clear them first. We had to clear the table ourselves just to make room.
To make matters worse, none of the pasta dishes came with cheese. We tried to get the attention of a staff member, but no one came out to check on us. After waiting 15 minutes, we had to go inside and ask for cheese. By then, our meals were cold.
Frustrated, we went in to pay — for mostly uneaten meals — and gave our honest feedback, saying the service was terrible. Instead of acknowledging the issue, the waitress got right in our faces, repeating "TERRIBLE" back to us with a disgusting attitude.
Then the chef decided to chime in, saying “you’re paying for the meals if I made them,” showing zero professionalism or care for the customer experience. No apology, no accountability, no ownership.
The food itself wasn’t much better — either way too salty or completely bland. Definitely not the kind of flavour or quality you'd expect from an Italian restaurant.
When a place isn’t busy, there’s really no excuse for this level of poor service. This restaurant needs serious training in both basic hospitality and customer service. We won’t be returning and can't recommend...
