3.5 stars Environment: Hong Kong pictures on the wall. Decoration of local food stall in 70s. Though it's not run by Hong Kong people, can watch HK TV. Partitions with bigger tables at two sides, small tables for two in the centre. Clean and tidy. --- 7/10
Service (6.9/10): the utensils are looked clean recently. Attentive staff. Prompt service. --- 6.7/10
Food: I always come here. Large menu. I tried a lot of dishes here. To me, Pork Chop is the best. I almost order pork chops every times. Should try the chef's recommendations, especially pork chop dishes. However, pork chops become thinner and smaller recently. Too thin! Don't order fried rice (except baked Rice) because it is too dry.
Baked pork chop with rice/pasta in tomato sauce 豬排焗飯(或意粉) is the best dish here as delicious, large portion and succulent pork. Less fillings (mushroom, celery and onions) and sauce than before --- 8.5/10 Pork chop bun(豬排包) was delicious in 2020, but recently found (in 2021) that the pork chop became smaller (2/3 size) and thinner. The bun was still crispy, and in same size. The salad on side was wilted (7.5/10).
Fried flat rice noodle with seafood in egg sauce 滑蛋海鮮炒河粉. It also a good dish because had 3 big prawns and egg sauce was cooked just right. --- 8/10
Beef Porridge, $13.8: served in a hot Claypot. There is a raw egg in the middle. The portion and texture of beef was ok. Have a taste of ginger in the porridge. The body of porrid was not thick enough, but acceptable range. --- 7/10
HK Tea diner set (2 Bacon, 2 Ham, 2 Sausages, 2 Luncheon, 1 Fried Egg, with steamed rice or Fried Rice), $17.8: ok, except the rice. Fried Rice does not have much rice and also stick together. The luncheon brand is not my liking --- 6.8/10
Fried Rice in Tomato sauce and Creamy Sauce鴛鴦飯: there is chicken & Mushrooms in Tomato sauce. Another half is 5 prawns (medium size) in creamy sauce. Not same as the one I ate in Kong Kong --- 6.5/10
Company Club Sandwich 公司三文治, $11.8: The wilted salad was too wet, and the toast was soaked partially. Bread was small and thin --- 5/10
Iced Milk Tea 港式凍奶茶, $5.5 with set: served in a small bottle sitting a bed of ice, so it ca keep the flavour till the end.
Hot Tea, $4.5/ $2with set: like hong kong milk tea favour have aroma of tea. -- 7/10
Prune Coke 話梅可樂, $6.5/ $4 with set: it was used to have a dried salted plum with stone 有核話梅 in 2020. It only has dried plum powder 話梅粉on the top in 2021. Not so...
Read moreI came back a year later and a lot has changed for the worse.
The food we ordered was really disappointing. I ordered a “secret recipe” curry beef brisket with “fried rice”.
I have tasted better beef curry rice dishes from takeaway places. The fried rice came with diced peas, corn and carrot that seemed to come frozen packs. It used come with actual steamed vegetables with bamboo shoots and properly cut carrots. The fried rice itself was definitely not cooked in a wok and had very little flavour and egg.
That costed $21.80 and they did not offer table/tap water. Hot drinks were from $5.80 and iced drinks were from $6.80 - unlike a lot of other Hong Kong cafes, you can’t “upgrade” to include a drink for an additional $2 - $3. You could upgrade for an extra $10 for “soup of the day with croissant” plus hot drink - even more if you want cold or other special drinks but you’re looking at over $30 for a really subpar meal.
A lot of the dishes on menu had been taken away and they no longer offer menu with pictures.
The staff members looked pretty monotonous and were hardly friendly. They seem to only come out to deliver the food or clean the table.
The atmosphere used to be better when there were booths but now they’ve rearranged everything in such a way that made the restaurant look less aesthetically pleasing.
Unfortunately, my mates and I won’t be...
Read moreMay 2025 - Came back again and believes the management, chefs have all been changed. The menu has changed as well. It does seem similar to the 2nd Storey Cafe / Steak and Food Concept in Bull Creek.
New photos to illustrate what we've ordered.
The pork belly seems a tad too hard and the other dishes are okay. Milk tea is the type where you've got to put in the sugar yourself, not my preferred type.
One thing to note about their service is that they're too "prompt" to want to clear away our plates whilst we're still eating. Doesn't make for a good dining experience. Cafe isn't even packed.
Jan 2023 - Not too bad of a HK cafe, not the best but can satisfy your taste buds a bit. Pretty good atmosphere inside, sufficient seating. Food was served promptly and quantity is above average. We had the lunch daily meals which included drinks which is good. Will come back again to try its other dishes. Nov 2023 - Came in after 8pm for late dinner, was happy that the staff were accommodating. Ordered a lot and the staff were prompt...
