Montezuma's Mexican Restaurant & Bar - Burleigh Heads, QLD — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

By far the worst food we have ever had. It was mostly refined beans, everything tasted like it was out of a can. It lacked so much flavour and freshness. The nachos were refined beans smeared on a plate with chips around the side, toasted cheese, covered in watery tomato’s “salsa”. The tacos were much the same, enchiladas served with stale packet rice, bland baby food beans. We had to ask for sour cream and that was the tastiest part. We paid the bill and left the tacos uneaten, along with the rice and beans The drinks were no better, and had to be ordered separately. Would’ve walked out after entrees, but felt too bad because we thought that our mains were getting made, truely the biggest regret. Worst money I’ve ever spent. Some of the staff looked like they were trying, but other customers were waiting ages to be served. So disappointed at our dining experience tonight. Montezuma's food matched their service- absolutely terrible.

Firstly, you're made to wait at a dingy, makeshift part of the 'restaurant' for drinks. No eftpos facilities available. The bar tab process is convoluted. We waited 25 minutes for pre-made Sangria from a jar & 3 soft drinks.

The staff were unwelcoming & unprofessional. I expressed disappointment about the presentation of my meal & that it didn't reflect what it stated on the menu. The abrupt waitress just snapped back that 'I clearly couldn't read.' (I'm a published Author, I can certainly read).

The food itself lacked flavor & seasoning. The chicken tasted like reheated microwave slop. Our table of 7 all mentioned how disappointed we were with our food.

We left hungry, disappointed & vowing never to return.

We went for a family gathering after NY. The seats were very uncomfortable. It took forever to get drinks. The staff were very rushed. They were friendly but run off their feet. The menus were filthy. They could do with a wipe. I've been to Montys a lot in the last 25 years at different locations and been here many times with different family and friends so I was the one who suggested this when family came from interstate. The food was terrible. I'm vegetarian and was actually sick the next day from it. My step daughter ordered something which was nothing like she expected and was told that if she wanted another meal she'd have to pay for it.
