I came to visit from Sydney and picked Fluer from a massive list of ‘go to’ places as I’m a total foodie. We decided on the set menu so we could try lots of dishes. Bread was good. Stock standard sourdough but good. Steak tartare… there was a whole massive bunch of meat in a rectangle held together by 2 really thin wafers. I started to eat it and immediately thought there’s something wrong with it. The flavors were off, the meat flourey in context and i actually thought it may have been off meat. I had to order more crackers but didn’t and up eating in as I thought it might actually make me sick. The waitress was lovely and ordered me the duck pate instead. That came and it was wrapped in what I later learned was a pear jelly. I think it was straight out of the fridge and so was hard and again flavors were just odd. I didn’t eat that either. Next the lamb. Apparently lamb shoulder but 2 pieces each came for myself and my friend and we both cut into it and immediately thought ‘is this lamb?’. Colour was almost like pork, it was rolled into some kind of roulade, was tough, fatty, unevenly cooked and tasted nothing like lamb. It had a really offensive olive sauce with capsicum under it. Flavors were again off. We both couldn’t eat it. Then there were a side of potatoes which we started to try. I picked up something that I thought was onion but it was mushroom (in amongst crispy potatoes?) it also had some kind of sauce. Flavors were all off and I asked my friend try it and she almost spat the mushroom out. Honestly tasted like dirt. Poor waitress by this stage convinced us to try the fish. (I wanted to leave). But we tried it. It was overcooked, the peas were hard and it had some kind of hard paste it was sitting on. Also a sauce that was just unbalanced. We didn’t even try the dessert and I’m thankful I’m not sick today as I was honestly expecting to be. Don’t think the kitchen was having a bad day as of 6 dishes all we could eat was the bread. The waitress was amazing and very sorry. So many good restaurants in Perth so I’m super disappointed we picked this one. My tip. DONT GO. Pick somewhere else - I would have enjoyed Maccas more! Oh and it’s super dark and tables are super close so don’t go wanting to have any private...
Read moreWe booked Fleur just out of curiosity - I have been to a few French inspired restaurants so I wanted to sample their food. We were promptly welcomed and seated, the place was busy but flowing, nice background sound of chats and music playing- felt like a corner of another part of the world nested in the beautifully restored building that houses Fleur. Opted for a rose' (pity only one choice by the glass) and a WA Shiraz to accompany a trio of entrees (outstanding tartare, couldn't go past the grilled octopus, felt like some kingfish too). The tartare was well balanced, would have loved some more rye crackers to accompany it, impeccably presented. The octopus had a remarkable smoky taste and was cooked to perfection (not at all chewy) and well rounded in flavour. The kingfish crudo was light and refreshing, just what we needed to refresh our palate. The striploin came and its pink insides coupled with a slightly crusted outside made it a pleasure to eat - melting while eaten. I had a view of the kitchen from where I was seated and the Team there was in sync and producing great looking dishes with ease. Had to try the mill feuille which promptly disappeared ( crunchy and the banana buttery ice cream was a great match). Service was very efficient and never intrusive, when asked for a recommendation the waiter didn't hesitate to direct us to the kingfish - well done to him and the entire Team. We will be back -...
Read moreWent in for the degustation Valentines Special and was surprised with couple mini cocktails which were very nice.
The atmosphere is great and there’s good spacing considering the small space. Lighting was great. And decor gives an old homage to the building.
There’s a glass of Dom Perignon served as a complimentary drink. Love!
The star of the night was the duck!!! The dry aged duck was tender yet juicy. The additional mushrooms added taste to the palette.
The caviar just phenomenal. I was surprised by the beef tendon served as an entree. It was amazing!!! Never had beef tendon so tender like that before.
The marron was perfectly cooked. The dessert was tasty.
One thing I wish was there’s 1 or 2 more courses to make an average belly full. Or a side of bread to fill us up and keep the experience a tad longer. We finished the whole courses in just over an hour, which I thought was slightly short.
Nevertheless we loved the experience and Fleur has become one of our favourite restaurants in Perth!!! Well done team!!!
Special mention to the chef Shane who’s delightful to see at work!!! He’s a legend in the game!! And the rest of the staff was just amazing. 5 star customer service!!! Every one smiled and was extremely friendly!!
A great team, amazing food, and great ambiance. Winning...
