I was looking forward to trying the “classica”, or what had been described to me as a real “focaccia al formaggio” from Recco and what I have found is some good (but too salty) flat bread with stracchino cheese on top. Being originally from the Recco area, probably my expectations were a tad too high... however I guess this is the best you can get around Sydney. Btw, everything is overpriced. I was shocked at paying a huge bill (over 220 dollars) for four spritz, four “focacce”, two desserts and two kids serves of gnocchi, not even equivalent to a standard serve. I don’t think I’ll give this restaurant another go.
——— Edit: for the record, today (the day following my review) the owner texted to me on Messenger and quite rudely - besides unnecessarily - wanted to make his point again. Here is more than enough, there’s no need to discuss my genuine impressions with someone so impolite, really. ——— Edit 2: it’s hilarious how you keep counting 6 customers when I have already explained that 2 out of 6 were toddlers who shared a serve of gnocchi and didn’t drink anything but tap water... however... Both the supposedly ironic “cara mia” and the judgemental attitude towards a not satisfied customer tell a lot. You try to diminish my life experience insinuating I am a newly arrived, naive and cheap person who dumbly would prefer a Domino’s pizza... how nice of you! I won’t even reply, dear mr “turismo in Liguria”, your opinionated attitude says it all. Now since you gave me a suggestion, I’ve got two for you: 1) learn some manners - because dealing with people should be your thing, right? 2) update yourself about fine dining costs in the inner/eastern suburbs, not just Rozelle, you’ll be most...

Waited approximately an hour for mains after having been asked twice if we were finished with entrees (we had, both times we were checked on). It got to the point where we asked to take the mains home, as it was getting later, and colder. We were told the kitchen had made a mistake, and they had new staff in, so at this point we were offered a digestif, though as I'm pregnant I couldn't indulge in this.
We waited AGAIN inside for ages, before a chef walked out and dumped two pastas in a menulog bag. These turned out to be ours, of course, though one was not the dish we ordered, so we waited AGAIN while they re-cooked the correct dish.... only it wasn't the correct dish.
The "Semolina Pasta" was a gnocci, and the sauce which was described as including "potatoes and green beans" included neither.
As a venue manager in a neighbouring restaurant, I like to give restaurants every chance to fix their mistakes, though I find it hard to believe we were offered no compensation for this, (apart from the alcoholic drink I couldn't have) and paid our bill entirely... At least we'll have a comical story out of this one, once I see...
Read moreI had a really horrible experience with my partner there. My partner was speaking to a waiter and because they are both from Italy they were talking about work in Australia. The waiter was telling him that he had a construction job labouring during the day on the weekend. My partner works in construction and told him if he wanted help finding something he could help him. After that the waiter never came back and no one served us, luckily we had our mains and drinks. The owner said he wanted to speak to my partner after we ate. We were wondering what was going on. After we finished he wouldn’t let us pay and told us to never come back again. I was totally gobsmacked and confused it was a really distressing experience especially because I was 8 months pregnant at the time. We have never been treated with such disrespect and all because he didn’t want my partner offering the waiter a job that he was already doing during the day.
Honestly cannot believe this...
