Aug, 2024 ~~~~~~~~~~~~ We were filled with fond memories of the generous bento boxes we enjoyed during our visit in May, so we couldn’t resist returning today, 21/08/2024, to satisfy our cravings. This time, we decided to share two Yurica special bento boxes (Eel and Wagyu Beef) among the three of us. Despite sharing just two boxes, we all left feeling wonderfully full and completely satisfied. The care and quality that went into each bento box were just as exceptional as we remembered. We can’t wait to return, and next time, we’ll bring more friends so we can explore even more of their delicious menu! May, 2024 ~~~~~~~~~~~~ We had heard glowing reviews about Yurica, so the three of us decided to have lunch there on 14/05/2024. Parking proved to be a challenge since street parking was our only option, and it was scarce due to the restaurant's location amidst high-rise residential buildings. After some deliberation, we opted to park at The Ranch and took a brief 5-minute walk across the street to reach the restaurant. Our order included: 2 x Yurica Special Bento Box A (with Eel) 1 x Wagyu Beef Nabe Udon (only available for dine-in) 1 x Yuzu Iced Soda The Yurica Special Bento Box A (eel) exceeded our expectations in size and variety. It featured an array of delectable offerings, including sashimi (3 x salmon sashimi), sushi (1 x salmon aburi, 1 x scallop aburi, 2 x tamago pieces), deep-fried items (Karaage Chicken, Pork gyoza, crab claw), salads (mixed and seaweed salads), pickles (4 different Tsukemono), miso soup, and a generous portion of eel as the main dish, accompanied by rice. The Wagyu Beef Nabe Udon was equally impressive in size, with ample slices of fresh Wagyu beef and two Panko Prawn. Both the udon and the broth were exceptionally flavorful. Considering the substantial portions, the Special Bento Box easily satisfied two adults, as did the Wagyu Beef Nabe Udon. I recommended sharing the Special Bento Box among at least one more friend and perhaps adding a sushi roll or smaller side dishes for sharing. Despite its $39 price tag, the bento box offered great value for money, especially considering the exceptional quality of the food. It worth mentioning that the Crab Claw that came with the Bento Box consisted of a substantial amount of REAL (not imitation) crab meat, truly impressive and delectable. I'm particularly intrigued by their sushi rolls, which appeared to be equally substantial, and I'm already looking forward to returning to try them out. Their Pork Hock ramen looks delicious too and that's on my to-try list too. The service was wonderfully friendly as well.

This is a fabulous restaurant for great quality and very generously portioned Japanese food. The first time I came here with colleagues, we were so happy and full, we were all rolling out the door. On our next team outing, without hesitation we decided to come to Yurica again, and we shared two bento boxes (Yurica Special Set A with Eel and Set B with Wagyu Beef) between the three of us and again we were very satisfied. Today, I took my parents here and we opted to share the following: Yurica Special Set A with Eel ($39), Wagyu Beef Nabe Udon ($33), 2x Salmon Aburi ($7.50), 2x Scallop Aburi ($8). We were all very happy with the quality, quantity and variety of food that was presented to us. I've tried the eel bento box and the wagyu beef nabe udon before and they were both as good as I remembered, if not better! The bento box already came with one salmon aburi and one scallop aburi, so the extra serving that we ordered meant that we didn’t have to fight over them. The crab claw was a standout and I'm a huge fan of the Japanese pickles. The wagyu beef nabe udon was also a very lovely addition. Don’t be fooled by the name – there is more than just wagyu beef and perfectly chewy udon noodles! There were also two panko prawns, a fish cake on a skewer, crab sticks, onsen egg, tofu, Shitake mushrooms and a generous amount of onions. As soon as this dish arrived on the table, my parents excitedly dug in, and I only managed one quick snap which didn’t capture half the ingredients. The only let down was the mushrooms. On this occasion I found it to be a bit tough and the stems not removed from all of them. But, overall, we were very happy and full. We were also pleased with the service. The staff were welcoming, polite and attentive, and they brought out share plates without us having to ask. Food also came out reasonably fast. As for parking, we’ve never had any luck parking outside the restaurant. On the two occasions that I dined with my colleagues, we parked at The Ranch on the other side of Epping Rd and walked across without any problem despite there being a “Customers Only” sign. When I came with my parents, however, we chose to walk across from the Macquarie Shopping Centre. It was an easy 10-15 min stroll, and despite my parents being elderly, they did not complain because they knew there would be good Japanese food awaiting them!

Food was really the star of this quaint little hidden Japanese gem. Big bright bold dishes came out in larger portions that what we’re used to, that we had to take home what my family of five couldn’t finish. Service was very friendly but possible understaffed, as the diy tap water kept running out. Obviously sushi -> soy sauce -> we need a drop of water here please. We tried their home made yuzu soda drink. At $9 a glass, expectations were high. Thankfully our expectations were met, such a delicious and incredibly refreshing drink, needed the wedge of lemon to stop it from being too sweet. The sushi rolls were huge! Very delicious, although the volcano rolls were too spicy for my family, the teriyaki chicken and teriyaki barramundi was sensational. The wyagu teriyaki donburi was nice too, again very generously portioned, lots of sides, but nowhere near at tender wyagu as I’ve had in Japan or elsewhere, which was a shame. The nigiri platter was delicious and fairly fresh. Salmon nice and fatty. Tuna beautifully fresh and melting. If we hadn’t been squashed into a corner where I couldn’t get out, I’d have given 5 stars, but sadly my daughters and I were stuck in a spot, with another man blocking our exit, which wasn’t pleasant considering I’d booked in advance. Will be going again for sure, and might change up to 5 stars.

Constrained by dietary restrictions, finding a suitable place for our entire family to sit in a restaurant and enjoy a hearty dinner has recently been hard. That was when we discovered Yurica, a local Japanese restaurant in Macquarie Park. There was an extremely friendly vibe as we walked in. We were greeted with a pleasant smile, and they quickly ushered us to our table. Handed with two menus, it was written on the front: Special dietary menu that allowed us to view the allergen-free dishes that they served. After ordering, we were promptly served a full table of food: a wagyu nabe udon, a dish of tempura, a chicken katsu donburi, a gluten-free wagyu donburi and for dessert, a gluten-free, homemade mochi ice cream. The udon was filled with a complex set of flavours: the umami flavour of the stock, the rich flavour of beef, the assortment of different foods like crab stick, panko prawns and the bouncy texture of the udon. The wagyu of the donburi was flavourful and tender and accompanied by ginger, pickled radishes, seaweed and rice; it created a burst of flavour within your mouth. The chicken katsu was tender, with the egg and rice in it, and the serving size was quite large, allowing for either sharing or a full stomach. The tempura, perfectly battered around an assortment of flavourful vegetables, was delicious when accompanied by the umami sauce. And last but most certainly not least was the ice cream mochi. We ordered the strawberry flavour, with the mochi having a slightly bouncy and chewy texture and the ice cream being vibrant and concentrated with flavour, and accompanied with the mochi, creating a complex yet enjoyable texture. Overall, we enjoyed this delicious food and did not feel the stress of worrying about allergens. The entire restaurant was nut-free, and many dishes were free of specific allergens, meaning almost anyone could have something...
