Read moreWe just returned from a visit to Tenterfield, one of our favourite country towns but our experience was spoiled by a visit to The Corner Cafe. Without looking at the menu (our fault) my partner ordered two salmon eggs bennies and a couple of coffees with a side of bacon. When I asked her how much it all cost, my jaw dropped...just over $70. I said that can't be right. Salmon bennies are normally $18-22 in GC, even at a cafe on the water and the same two coffees are $8.50 at our local cafe on Chevron Is. but we paid about $10.50. While the coffees tasted great, we were very disappointed with the bennies, which were bland and the poached eggs were overcooked and more like hard boiled eggs. Lots of indoor seating and some outdoor seating however the larger indoor area was quite cool and airy, heating isn’t the best on a cold winter morning. Blankets are an option but not comfortable while trying to eat. Service was friendly but due staffing issues there was quite a wait for food. Food serves are generous and coffee was lovely.
