Geelong Hotel — Restaurant in Victoria

Do NOT have a function here. So incredibly disorganised! No beer taps working so kept being turned away from the bar being told beer isn't available, but not even offering alternatives until management was involved. Having no pressure in the beer taps is a KNOWN ISSUE, but NO alternative was proposed and the organisers were never informed. One particular bar staff had such a shit attitude that it ruined the night for a lot of people. Food was supposed to start coming out at 7pm, didn't actually start coming out until 8:30pm and only a very small portion came out at a time, which meant that it was a struggle to get anything to eat all night. All the fridges were empty for the function room, so bar staff had to keep running back and forth from the rooftop to the main floor to get things. It was embarrassing, a debacle and a complete waste of money. The owners should be absolutely ashamed of their establishment and the culture they are instilling by not looking after the staff that are trying to do the right thing. I had high hopes for the Geelong Hotel, but what a massive let down! The food was horrific, after finally finding something on the menu that was actually available to order as everything I asked for prior I was told sorry we don’t have that, sorry we don’t have that either, and guess again we don’t have that either…when my order finally came out the fish looked like a kids meal three tiny pieces with about 10 chips and over dressed salad on a piece of cabbage. The fish in places was not cooked enough and I had to spit it out, a few others who had ordered fish - as apparently that was the only thing available on the menu - said the same thing. Our waiter probably knew the food was horrible so he didn’t even bother asking us how everything was because we would have been brutally honest. On top of the food being horrible, there were no bins in the toilets, especially female toilets, not one of the stalls had a sanitary bin there was only one stall that had toilet paper left whilst the rest were empty. It was just an extremely unpleasant experience and will not be returning. Geelong Hotel you have A LOT...

Went there with 3 others for dinner tonight. Overall a good experience. Positives: A) Great atmosphere B) Food was cooked nicely including the steak. Entree and mains were bought out in the order as requested and in a timely fashion. C) Staff were lovely and accommodating when we wanted to alter dishes slightly, get sauces on the side or split the bill. Bar staff were happy to whip up a custom mocktail. Negatives: A) There doesnt appear to be a structure for the floor staff. We were asked constantly by different staff whether we had ordered, whether we would like drinks or if everything was to our liking. Sometimes within 15 to 30 seconds of one another. Whilst good customer service is welcomed, I think it would work better if staff were allocated specific tables to wait on. Each staff member seemed to be servicing every table which I think caused some drink orders to be forgotten. B) If im being picky. I received fried bok choy in my side of veg with my steak. I like the creativity but this vegetable really needs garlic etc to...
