We arrived to Atlantis early on our first day. With nothing to do until we get into our rooms (we were not able to swim early for other reasons), we decided to grab a bite to eat at the Marina Village. Next to nothing was open around lunchtime on a Wednesday which served real food and not snacks, so we ended up at Burger Shack.
Seating us was fairly quick, but they neglected to remember that the table we were sat at was already on hold for another group's travelers who were just a bit late.
We sat around for about 10 minutes before our order was taken. One of us ordered a Bahamian Spice burger, and the other ordered the special - fish and chips made with local snapper. It took another 10-15 minutes to receive the food, which as we learned is actually not too bad of a service in the Bahamas.
When our food arrived, we found the burger to be fairly standard fare, pretty modest in size but with a patty that had virtually no charred characteristic. It was likely steamed on the flat top. The spicy barbecue sauce was rather mild in other seasonings (and not that spicy to boot), but the coleslaw was a nice contrast to it.
The snapper in the fish and chips was underbattered - it was so light, it might as well have been done with a dusting of corn starch. The fish itself was cooked pretty well, not overdone and not overly greasy. The fries were standard, nothing to write home about.
Overall, it wasn't a bad lunch, but it is a bit pricey (as is all food in Atlantis). We felt like the food in Atlantis's Aquaventure was marginally better at the same price point, but if you find yourself in this area without everything else closed, it won't break the bank and you won't likely leave...

Bad reviews are not my thing, but it seems to be happening in the Bahamas where the people have always been so warm, helpful and friendly in the past. I don’t think I’ve ever been treated with so much disdain at a restaurant before. It was not overly busy, and our server seemed to only have about 3 active tables at the time. Our server barely spoke to us, being very abrupt when she did. She would speak but turn her head sideways and direct her eyes away from us. It was observably weird. Asking for glasses of water seemed like the most intrusive request that we could have had. Later on when she came to check on us, and ask if we needed anything further, we again asked for more water. This was not what she was expecting and appears to have been quite burdensome. It was such an off experience. It literally felt like she hated us so much, but had to serve us. Maybe working on Paradise Island is like that. I’ve encountered extreme apathy in the past but this seemed more like strict loathing. Parallel experiences have occurred a few times since being in the Bahamas this time around. Burger Shack was such an off putting experience while eating one of the best burgers of my life. I really wanted to like this place but when your meal is served with disgust and contempt, it kind of warps...

However, they didn’t tell any of the people who were waiting to be seated, including my fiancé and I who ended up waiting for an hour before finally moving on. We asked the hostess 3 times whether we would be seated or not and finally she told us “they were no longer operational” and then walked away. A random guest overheard and explained the kitchen was overwhelmed and they were not seating anyone for another hour so they could catch up- meaning we would have had to wait 2 hours if we had stayed there. Pretty incredible that they had to shut down an hour after they opened and even more incredible that the hostess refused to tell us this even after asking 3 times and instead had us wait outside for an hour before a random guest told us what was...
