Ellis Gourmet Burger — Restaurant in Aalst

This has to be the best Burger in town… without a doubt. I pride myself on rarely eating meat but I make an exception for a good burger. Normally I will only make an exception for an HRC Burger, but since Ellis Gourmet Burger has come to Aalst I gladly add their burger to my list of exceptions because their burger is nothing less than delicious. So far I have been to this restaurant four times and each and every time it has been a pleasant experience. The wine, the fries and the burger are terrific, but so is the service. Each and every server that I have had the pleasure of encountering in this restaurant has been polite, courteous, extremely friendly and patient. Nothing we have asked for appears to be too much and believe me… our orders are often not the simplest ones. One of us likes it cooked this way but does not like that, the other one likes it cooked that way and wants extra mustard and so on. But they put up with all our quirks and idiosyncrasies and often odd requests and then come back with a smile to make sure that everything is as wished. Also worth mentioning is that in the not too distant background there is the young manager jumping in where necessary and making sure that everything runs like a well oiled machine and ensuring that his customers have had a pleasant experience. What a great team he runs. Everyone seems to having fun and working together. I am absolutely delighted that Ellis Gourmet Burger Restaurant has come to Aalst as it a definite asset to the town and going by its popularity I would say that I am not the only one...

I went there @19h30 and an employee said they had no space and couldn't take us, but went to the kitchen to check. Meanwhile, a waitress said they had space and was no problem. The 1st employee came back and confirmed we could not be seated. We said we could wait and he said they were closing. I asked if they were not closing @21h30, in 2h? He said they were closing earlier that day. Weird, but we left.

Another day, we came back. We were the first for lunch there. Waitresses were more interested in chatting with each other than taking orders. Kitchen cook was on the phone for like 20 mins. They served first someone who arrived later, while we were already waiting for a while. Fries and burgers orders came mixed up. Sticky flower wings were frozen in the inside. The bread on the burger was quite nice, rest of the burger was not special at all. Fried sweet...

You can only have so much Belgian food when you visit, and this place really hit the spot for something different. The food was tasty and reliable and I would happily go back the next time I’m craving meat. The options were versatile and had great flavor. I had the Korean Burger, fries and onion rings and everything hit the spot, including the side sauces that came with the fries and onion rings.
