We’ve been craving Indian cuisine lately, and after spending the day around Burnaby and New Westminster, we decided to finally check out Tasty Planet Indian Cuisine — a spot we’ve driven by many times!
Here’s what we ordered and loved: 🍗 Chilli Chicken – Deep-fried boneless chicken cooked with ginger and green peppers. It’s like Chinese sweet and sour chicken but with a delicious spicy kick! 🥣 Chana Puri – Two HUGE deep-fried wheat breads served with chickpeas, pickle, and salad. The chickpeas were so flavourful, and the puri was light and crispy. This is a must-order! 🔥 Chicken Tikka Masala – Grilled chicken in a creamy, tomato-based sauce. Perfectly balanced and so comforting. 🥘 Lamb Korma – Boneless lamb cooked in a rich white cashew nut sauce. The lamb was tender and full of flavour — we loved the spice balance! Garlic Naan – Soft, perfectly cooked (not burnt!), and great texture. A must-have pairing with any curry.
Every dish was so tasty that it was hard to pick a single winner of the night — but if we had to choose, the Chana Puri and Lamb Korma were our top picks! 🥇
The menu offers a great mix of classic favourites and unique regional dishes. Everything tasted authentic, fresh, and made with care.
Tasty Planet is a small, casual restaurant located in a plaza at 6th Street & 10th Avenue (Highway 1A) — right on the Burnaby/New Westminster boundary. It’s a cozy spot, perfect for casual dining or takeout.
We’ll definitely be back — or maybe we’ll check out their other location on Fraser Street next time! 🙌

Read moreI placed my order online and specified no potato for two curries and no cilantro for the entire order. I got an email saying the food was ready and went to pick it up. It wasn't ready. We ended up waiting an 30 extra minutes.
Once it was ready, they realized their mistake of having put potato and cilantro in everything. They asked if it was okay and I said no. They said they were going to remake all the dishes. They made it seem like it was my fault because the order was so large (3 curries, samosa, pakora, and naan didn't seem like a crazy large order to me). After some time, they handed me the food and said they remade all the dishes.
When I got home it was very clear they hadn't remade any dishes. There was cilantro in every dish. The aloo gobi was half empty. Obviously they had just picked out the potato and attempted to pick out the cilantro. They picked it all out, stood around for 10 minutes, then handed me my food and said they had remade everything... real nice.
Now onto the quality... the veggie curry was literally made of a bag of frozen vegetables (mix carrot, peas, corn, beans) and five pieces of cauliflower. Really subpar. I've never had curry that wasn't freshly cut vegetables. Overall, the flavour was not there for the aloo gobi or mixed veg curry.
The naan was dry, hard, stale, and not fluffy at all. I've never had bad naan, I've had some not-so-good naan but bad naan?! What respectful Indian joints messes up naan??? The pakoras seemed like they would've been good fresh but by the time I had got home, they were stale and dry. The one redeeming factor was the samosas, but for a nearly $90 order, I expect way more than a good samosa.
Needless to say, I will never be going back. I can only assume all these 5 star reviews come from people eating the meat curries because their vegetarian curries are shockingly terrible and their service sucks...
Read moreFirst time trying, we ordered the Amritsari Kulcha, coconut fish and garlic naan via delivery. Though I’m normally not much of a fan for Indian food, wife absolutely loves them, so we’ve had our share, and this place may have changed my mind!
Taste 1/1* Omg the Amritsari Kulcha, highly recommend!! Soooo many ways of eating this absolutely delicious dish!! Coconut fish was nothing outstanding but good Naan was one of the best we’ve had, great texture with a chew
Value 1/1* Good value, especially for the taste
Speed 1/1* Order was prep’s & received on time
Presentation 1/1* Delivered well, presentation on point
Overall/Revisit 1/1* A place I’d like to frequent
Above and beyond? 0/+1*
Note: Most Indian cuisine leave the spices ungrounded, and personally I find that makes the dish not as pleasant, but this place you will find their sauces all nice and smooth, so if that’s your thing, definitely...
