My husband and I had arranged to have our wedding dinner at the Boulton House. Upon arrival, I was informed that I had cancelled the reservation two days prior to. This is absolutely not true. I was told that they had tried to contact me on numerous occasions across the past 2 days to verify this cancellation, yet I had not received a single call, text, or email. Nonetheless, I waited alongside my wedding party, outside, on the curb, in the rain, while our table was being prepared. The table was for a party of 10. We did not have any special requests, just to simply organize their existing tables to seat a party of 10 – as they would for any regular reservation. A $200 fee was associated with this set up.
While waiting to get seated, we had called the owner to let him know what was happening. I was expecting to be met with empathy and an immediate apology. Instead, I was given the run around and felt that blame was being displaced onto me. “I’m sorry, but…” is not a true apology. I tried my best to be understanding of the whole mishap, however, I was very frustrated as I felt that there was a complete lack of empathy and responsibility. During this point, several employees had been entering/leaving the side gate to the patio, and at no point were we approached or offered a friendly smile. At this point, the mood had been completely soured as my husband, guests, and I felt like we were not being kindly received. My husband and I ultimately cancelled the dinner and we all went home; we could not happily have our wedding dinner at the same place that had ruined our wedding day. My wedding day was far from the joyous day I had dreamed of and imagined. An honest show of empathy, and a friendly smile would have gone a long way.
We absolutely regret our decision to organize our wedding dinner at the Boulton House. I would not recommend this...
Read moreHad been wanting to try this restaurant forever and had really high hopes of finding a place that might become my weekly dining spot because Im not much of a cook but unfortunately it didn't turn out the way I had hoped. My first effort I ordered their ravioli for take-out. Got home and found the temperature was good and it looked presentable and the sauce and the filling was beautiful and quite tasty but unfortunately the pasta itself was absolutely awful. The outer edges of each ravioli piece was as hard as a rock. So much so that I ended up giving up on almost half of the order when I couldn't even get the side of my fork through an individual piece to take a bite of the ravioli. Hoping it was an off night I ordered a simple Ceaser salad for take-out a couple of weeks later assuming it would be hard to mess something like that up. Got home, opened up the container and it literally looked like they just plunked down the main stock of the lettuce and called it a day. I ended up cutting/trimming off what little actual lettuce was there and then added the dressing that came with it from a small container. So disappointed. In light of the premium prices I havnt had the nerve to return to give them a third opportunity to disappoint me. I'm pretty confident I won't be trying again. Unfortunate since there aren't very many quality dining spots in close proximity. I will say that the young lady who settled my bill was very nice and professional. I mention it because I was still wearing my work clothes at the time but she made me feel welcome...
Read moreWe came here fully aware of the price and so we had high expectations, but sadly, they were not met.
After being seated, it took 20 minutes to have a server acknowledge us and provide us water. Afterwards, it took an additional 15 minutes to receive our appetizer. We ordered the black bocconcini which was basically just fresh vegetables, which is why it’s shocking how long it took to get to us.
What was the most frustrating part was that the people that were seated after us would get their servers right away and get food before us even though we ordered first. We were intentionally being ignored.
I had the chicken Parmesan the pasta was fine, the chicken was unseasoned battered chicken with cheese, there was no flavour in the chicken.
We also had the lobster spaghetti and it surprises me how they over cooked the lobster to a consistent similar to rubber.
I come to a restaurant to experience food I could not normally get or make myself. I truthfully would enjoy pre-made food from the grocery store, or simply make it myself for a fraction of the price.
We overheard other tables who ordered pasta get offered cheese and pepper but we didn’t get that option.
For a more expensive place we thought there was more standard.
We had 4 different servers come cover, no one introduced themselves and just felt like they were tossing us over to the next person.
Overall, I have never had such an unpleasant experience before at a restaurant, it honestly felt as if we were being...
