Took my family and my girlfriend to this restaurant for the first time on a Friday night at 6pm. Called to reserve in the morning but they said no reservations Friday to Sunday. Got there just before 6 and I could see why there are no reservations. The restaurant was pretty small and they only had 2 tables that could fit 6 or more. We ordered there speciality hot plate with 2 orders of squid and spicy pork. Like others have said, it's odd that you have to order 2 portions. Can't even mix and match. In addition, we ordered mom's spicy chicken, pork cabbage wrap, seafood pancake and a seafood tofu soup. Spicy chicken wasn't too spicy but nothing spectacular about the dish. Pork cabbage wrap was delicious! Instead of having plain cabbage, they use whole kimchi pieces to wrap the pork. Yum yum! Seafood pancake was pretty average. Tasted like other Korean restaurants. The seafood tofu soup was supposed to be spicy but we asked them to make it non spicy because my niece can't handle spiciness. At the very end, we had quite a bit of left over squid and spicy pork so we opted to get the fried rice. She said $3 per person. Initially I thought we had to get 6 portions but we ended up only getting 2 portions and it was certainly enough. Overall, it was pretty good. A bit on the expensive side though. Definitely go with a group to eat more varieties.

Came here with a friend to try their hot plate. We tried to make reservations, but they don't take reservations for parties of less than 5 people. Instead, they recommended that we come a bit later, at 8pm to avoid a long wait. We did as they recommended and only waited about 10 mins for seats. There is parking in front but it is pretty limited. The hot plates are sized for 2 and up, and come with corn and egg on the side. We added cheese to our spicy baby octopus and pork hot plate. The spiciness level was just right for us. The food was good and surprisingly filling. At first we thought it wouldn't be enough so we had added the fried rice option (they fry it in the hot plate with all your drippings), but we realized we would be too full so we had to cancel it. The service was not bad, and it was quite a fun way to eat. The total with tax and tip came to just over $20/person, with the added cheese. I thought it was pretty good value, and still want to try the fried rice and their hotpots as well, so I'm sure I'll be back soon, with more friends so we can try a bigger variety of dishes.

Today was supposed to be a happy day. Me, my girlfriend and my cousin went out to have an early birthday dinner for myself. I recommended Ta Bom because the first time we ate there which was just a week ago was awesome. As a Korean food fanatic, I really liked it. We ordered Spicy Cheese Samgyupsal. Today we went again and ordered the same. I was so excited and also my cousin since I told her the food is great. We arrived just past 8pm. We were seated immediately and we ordered. Food arrived and suddenly the restaurant got busy. I'm not blaming the server because he is alone. He is a nice guy but I think he forgot about our food which was getting burnt already . Fast forward I showed him the photo I took of our food from last week and I asked why this one is different. He apologized and said he will changed it. We didn't mind . Im still trying to be in a good mood since it is my birthday dinner. He came back after I dunno maybe 10minutes since he was busy. It's almost 9pm . I wanted to leave but my cousin said the other restaurant nearby are already closed so we just stayed put. We were very hungry . We came from surrey eventhough there are tons of nice korean restaurants in surrey we still went here since I really liked the food. He came back with new meat and we told him to not worry about it and we will just cook it ourselves. He seem very apologetic. I dont blame him but I hope the management will atleast make sure there are enough staff to help customers. I can say that this will be the last time we will ever eat there. I'm very upset that our night was ruined. I'm embarrassed that I recommended it to my cousin and I'm glad my other friends and coworkers didn't come with us to experience this. Sorry but we will not recommend this restaurant anymore. It wasn't worth it. FIRST PHOTO is the one we ordered from last week and the SECOND PHOTO is from today (We haven'teven started eating yet, lots of stuff missing compared to the other photo, corn and cheese are getting overcooked, no egg which I dont understand. the last order we had has egg in it but the guy said it doesnt usually come with egg and we need to pay extra?). It was very disappointing. I felt like I wasted my money.

While the food here was good, the service and misleading menu were really disappointing. We viewed the menu before arriving and were excited to have some beers with dinner, but when we tried to order some Asahi, we were told the only beer they had was bottled Corona. Disappointing, but we ordered it anyway. Despite the unique style of food and serving format, the server never asked if we had visited before (I later learned they do this at the downtown location so they can provide suggestions and guidance). We made our selection and when it was brought out, the server placed it on the grill, ignited the flame, and left. We didn’t know if we had to wait for anything to cook, if there was any suggestions for how to eat, etc. He also didn’t explain what any of the side dishes were. Service was slow so when the server finally came back ten minutes later he realized the burner wasn’t working and our food hadn’t stayed warm, the egg hadn’t cooked, and the cheese hadn’t melted. We eventually got it working and the food was great, but the (lack of) service left a bad taste in our mouth. Given that this place is so different from what you’d encounter in a western-style restaurant, they should definitely be more attentive and helpful. They should also update their drinks menu if they will no longer carry the advertised beverages! Definitely go for the food, but don’t expect much beyond that.

I usually visit the downtown one and order the stir fries. This time I tried the budaejjigae. The price on the menu was false advertising. You have to order from 1, 2 and 3 to complete the set. They tell you the base cost in 1 and you can pick sides to add to the pan for free or for cost in step 2, 3. Except.. step 3 only has items priced at $5. I asked if I can just omit it and they said no, it is mandatory to pick one. Why don't they just add $5 to the base cost and then make step 3 free. Adding a price make it seems like I can choose to add it or not. So now the budaejjigae is $41 instead of $36 with sides I didn't really need. Quite pricey for a very simple ingredient dish. Soup base was very flavorful but not a lot of ingredients was in it for that price point. One thing I didn't like was the buying of positive reviews. They offer you free soda/pop for positive reviews only. Parking is limited but we did find a spot on a weekend lunch. ---edit for reply to owner--- The signature budaejjigae did not come with any rice. The server should have suggested the standalone version when I asked to have no sides.

Such a bad experience here!!!! We came here at 8:20pm, and the waiter said we had to wait for about half an hour and last call would be at 9:00pm. I understood it was quite popular, so we didn’t mind to wait. We seat in at 8:50pm and was thinking to order bbq, but we were told that there was no more bbq because it had passed the cut off time. What?! The waiter never told us at all while we waited and we came here just for bbq. They ended up offer us the bbq which I appreciated. However, another nightmare started after we ordered. Another half an hour wait just for the raw meat (pork belly only) 😞😞 There was no cheese when they served the food and we asked if they missed it. They said they sold out cheese earlier today. What……WITHOUT any notice againnnnn?!!! 😡😡😡They really have a very Bad communication, the owner should give all your staffs a proper training!!! They wasted our time and killed our mood for whole night!! The pork belly was so so, it was a thin cut. Definitely never come back and would not recommend to everyone if you are craving for pork belly bbq, don’t waste your money!!!
