WARNING. Normally, I don't take the time to review a place unless it's phenomenal. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. My family and I frequented this establishment for the past year, sometimes 1-2 times a week, and it's declined rapidly. We noticed on numerous occasions that the service was getting worse, or the food was either cold or stale. Like most people, we are busy, and we prefer healthy food when we have to eat out. Not to mention, we live 5 minutes away. We had our first serious issue on our anniversary, a few months ago. The service was lacking, the food was mediocre, and my husband got sick. I have to admit that after our previous experiences, and reading the reviews today, which have gotten lower and lower, and thought, "Could it really be that bad?" The answer is; yes. We lived out west, and have been to numerous 5-6 star sushi restaurants, as well my husband was a butcher/fish monger for 15 years. We have a lot of experience with high quality food. I also am a very generous tipper, 25-30% for good service is normal for me. Now for today's experience. They served us in a timely fashion, we were just starting to relax and enjoy our food, when my husband noticed that the sashimi wasn't fresh. We quietly notified the staff member closest to us. Now, if you are unaware of their policy, "All You Can Eat", means that you can order as many times as you want, but don't order more than you can eat. You can't take extra home without paying for it. This makes sense, and we never had issues with the policy. In this case, we were only half way through our meal. Telling them we were dissatisfied, should have meant we did not have to pay for the sashimi. He instead insisted we, "may not have to pay for it." That we'd see after we finished eating. First red flag. My husband put a salmon wrapped asparagus into his mouth, then promptly spit it into a napkin. It was rotten, and he excused himself to rinse out his mouth. The staffs reaction was apologetic, the managers reaction was rude and dismissive. Second red flag. At the same time, we had ordered a specific dish with no onions, as my daughter is 3, and very sensitive to raw onion. The dish we ordered just for her, came with onions, just as we were trying to deal with the salmon issue. Red flag #3. The staff began to ignore us, and my husband was understandably upset. He took our daughter and left. The worst part is they insisted they had tried what we had eaten, and it was fine. Even if in the very rare chance the food wasn't off, (It was) shouldn't they agree, and consider our previous patronage at the very least? No apologies from the manager, although he offered a 10% discount. I was too angry to argue, I paid and left. My family and I will never go here again, and for your health, I recommend you...
Read moreI’ve been going this restaurant ever since it originally opened 2012. It is had several owners since it opened. The last owners they had amazing customer service, the serving staff were amazing. The food was always amazing. If we had any issues with the food they would always take it back and give us a 10% discount on the meal due to that. We even got our meal completely free in the past did you give her due to being unsatisfied With the meal. That did not happen very often. Me and my friends used to go to this restaurant 3 to 4 times A month, Sometimes more.
Currently there are new owners. This is the worst I’ve ever seen it. We have gone there two times now since they had new owners 2022 and we were disappointed both times for different reasons. The first time the food was absolutely disgusting it was not the same Genji that we have always gone to. The rolls were loose and falling apart, certain roles of the sauce that they normally had on them, The meat skiers were tough and chewy. The second time my friend had chicken skewers and the meat was raw inside. When we brought to the attention of our waitress the Only thing she said was do you want a different one instead. We both looked at each other and told her no. The food was absolutely delicious this time, we did have a few items left on the table that we wanted to take home . the waitress told us five dollars to one person . we ate our dessert and asked for the bill . on the menu it indicated one price our bill indicated a different price . The extra charge the waitress indicated it was double that in price. They would not give me my union discount because I only had a copy of the card on my phone. Even though it indicates my name. I was showing I’d too. They did not take any discount off of our meals for the raw chicken. It always used to be free pop with your meal and now it’s $.99. Which they didn’t inform us at the beginning.
I had quite the conversation with my waitress, who indicated to me that she was also one of the managers. She was not very helpful not very pleasant. And locked customer service abilities. Will definitely never be going to this restaurant again. Which is a shame because I used to go 3 to 4 times a...

[ Anything I had write is just stand for my own opinion, because everyone taste is different, my tongue is more sensitive after everyday steam food with low salt. I really hope it will get better after I leave. If you have been to Japan,NY, Vancover,or Banff you might understand me. If you have been to any other restaurant cost 50 dollars for two people(such as Emerald Lake Lodge Restaurant world top 100 restaurant) you will understand me. If you diet and eat low salt food and only organic fresh food you will understand me. I am a picky guy about the food. all about food is my way of life.Hope you guys doing better, what I do is helping you guys to remember you still have a lot of things to improve. My comment is not useful here, if you read this maybe you should try Genji to find out your self. Have your own opinion. As somebody says everything have critical side, some people agree, some people disagree, some people didnt pay attention in this area. Nothing is perfect unless this is from Chinese News. If you find out something is perfect without any voice plz let me know at first. unfortunately im the guy who has different opinion and need to write down to...
