Had a horrible experience dining here today. Food was alright but we definitely received a lot of discrimination unlike I’ve ever experienced before. Came here for lunch today with my husband and son(15 months) there was one server and one guy at the bar, seems like the manager. We were the first table there for lunch and 3 more came in during our time there. During our meal I felt the guy at the bar glaring over at us, I get that no one likes a screaming baby but my son only raised his voice a few times and when he did we would immediately try to calm him down. After we had paid and was preparing to leave, the server brought us some paper towels and said “for your mess” ummm ok… at this point I actually had already cleaned everything that was spilled on the table and essentially no food garbage was left, on the floor there was a few dropped napkins and a fork. I went to the washroom and when I got back I see the guy/manager standing right next to my table where my husband and son was getting dressed and he was looking at our table shaking his head then walked off as I approached. Is this standard restaurant practice to judge guests right in front of their face?? And as I was walking out the door he said to me “thanks for cleaning up” I’m left wondering are you mocking me? Is this really necessary? Is it because I’m Chinese? Because I have a baby? This sarcasm was really unnecessary, I get parents are responsible for their baby and I try to do my part to a certain extent but do you need treat your customers line this? Is not like I didn’t tip, we gave a standard 15%. Definitely left this place...
Read moreLovely dinner on their patio. It was really difficult to get a reservation as they’re usually packed! Was able to find a table for 2 on a Thursday night at 8:45pm.
Initially asked for indoor dining but we were okay with sitting in the patio to enjoy the ambience. It was under a big tent overlooking the docked boats. I wish they could do something about all the spiders though! There’s so much on the top of the tent inside and all the sides...
The service was FANTASTIC! They were very attentive to our needs. All the plates and other serving-ware were lovely clay dishes and really took us back to our trip to Portugal!
Appetizer: Garlic piri shrimp - delicious big pieces of shrimp, cooked well, and in a fantastic garlicky oil based sauce! We definitely had to ask for more bread to soak up all that goodness! They only came with two pieces of bread, wish it came with more overall and on a separate plate.
Mains: Portuguese Paella - ordered without the chorizo to share with someone who doesn’t eat pork. It was delicious but I’m sure the chorizo would have given that extra oomph! However, the mussels were tiny though. It came in a small paellera which is definitely something to share.
Irish Organic Salmon - well seasoned and cooked to perfection! A great piece of fish that is definitely filling.
The cocktails are also well-made but I can’t remember what they were called!
Overall, a delicious meal and we will try their other locations. We did not order dessert, however. I wish they had more of the Portuguese dessert options available for that, we weren’t too keen on...
Read moreWe arrived at 4:30 on a Saturday to what looked like a restaurant in a witness protection program, completely empty inside except for one table, and barely anyone outside. Yet somehow, they told us they were fully booked. After standing there awkwardly and pointing out all the empty tables like we were on a restaurant safari, they had a sudden epiphany and decided they could seat us on the patio after all. Stunning revelation.
Our server was kind and doing her best, but it was clear she hadn’t been given the tools (or info) to succeed. She wasn’t familiar with the menu or had knowledge abour what kind of sparkling water they had which made ordering a bit of a guessing game. We started with the octopus appetizer, which was decent. Then came the tagliatelle with shrimp—except the shrimp was raw. Like, still-in-the-ocean raw. We politely asked if they could cook it a bit more, even handed the undercooked pieces to her on a plate. It came back looking exactly the same, as if the shrimp had taken a scenic tour of the kitchen and nothing else. Now listen, we’re happy to pay for a great meal. But when you’re charging premium prices, the shrimp should not be swimming in my pasta. Between the disorganized service, the chaotic kitchen, and the umbrella that fell onto someone’s actual plate! It felt like dinner and a show, except the show was a safety hazard.
Eventually someone came out and added a weight to one umbrella, but by that point we were just praying not to get impaled by flying patio furniture. The only thing cooked at this restaurant was...
