My original review must have actually been based upon a bad night for this location, as after a second visit, I now have no qualms about updating my review. After a period of time I did receive a response from the owner (I thought I would be alerted to a response by Google, but a co-worker actually is the only one that brought it to my attention!?). Romeo's Nicole responded saying that they would like to address my concerns and treat my boss and I if we gave them another chance. I can say that I am glad that we did try Romeo's again, as the food and service we received this time was fantastic! My boss and I commented positively on each dish we had ordered, all with a superb blending of taste and presentation. I ordered a 'Dark and Dirty' as an initial 'test', and our server pleasantly responded that she was not aware of what the drink was, but would happily 'Google' it for me! I was happy to tell her what it actually was, and she cheerfully returned with exactly what I simply wanted. The simple things make me smile. The menu does not include a 'Steak Sandwich' anymore, so I ordered the New York Striploin steak. It was a tasty cut, and grilled to exactly what I asked for. The "Blondie' dessert was originally going to be served with banana, but we substituted it with strawberries, as suggested by our server. A delicious conclusion to an excellent meal! I would like to thank Nicole and her team for making me a 'believer' in Romeo's again, and for assisting me to save face with my boss ;)
Original Review; Must have been a bad night. Our server asked if we would like drinks and I ordered a "Dark and Dirty". A short while later the server returned, plunked a menu in front of me and told me that those were no longer on the menu and that I need to order from what is currently on the drinks menu. I smiled and explained to her that a 'Dark and Dirty' is simply a dark rum and coke. She smiled back and said she would check with the bartender to determine if they had that in stock? She did return with what tasted like a dark rum and coke so I was satisfied. I then ordered a steak sandwich (which I had previously 3 months ago and enjoyed) and received a breakfast steak cut in half and doubled up on a piece of bread, topped with a "Giant" onion ring that actually had the diameter of a toonie (no joke). When I had originally been asked by the server how I wanted my steak done, I had responded 'medium rare'... you can imagine just how they were able to accommodate that request in a piece of steak a little over a 1/4" thick (doubled up was supposed to be OK?). I brought this to the attention of our server and she said she would discuss it with the cook...and returned with a single larger onion ring on a plate! I was definitely wishing I had not recommended this restaurant to my boss, who was sitting across from me. At the end of our meal I asked again about the steak sandwich, and our server responded that the menu was in the process of changing and that they did not have stock of all items on the current menu. I would suggest that, if that is the case, you let your guest know that you are out of stock and suggest another item on the menu, and to not make substitutions based on what is available in the kitchen at the time. I ended up paying full price for that steak sandwich and $9.00 more for my dark rum and coke (I guess I did get a bonus onion ring). I stay at this hotel monthly, but will certainly reconsider the convenience of stepping downstairs for a bite to eat at...
Read moreIncredible. I was blown away at how good this place is.
Started with a Smoked Old Fashioned, quickly ordered a second. This was the best whiskey cocktail I have ever had. No joke, man!
My server Lindsay was so polite, prompt and professional. She mentioned the kitchen was serving a 45 day dry aged ribeye! I had to try it.
The steak came with Boursin cheese Mashed Potato, grilled broccolini, steak topped with a delicious Chimmichuri which was so nicely balanced in flavor.
The steak was incredible. Very tender. Worth every penny.
Tried the lemon white chocolate tart, presentation was pretty, tart was delicious.
Thank you Lindsay for taking good care of your guests! Give that girl a raise. Seriously.
DAY 2
I came back for more smoked old fashioned action. Ended up trying the Meat Pizza and the Pekoe cider.
Jodi was serving me at the bar. Had some really good conversation and a great time. She mentioned the Pekoe cider is a hit with some of the staff, so I went for it. Kind of like sweet iced tea and cider in equal parts. Very refreshing. Cool product.
The Meat Pizza was delicious, and full of toppings, especially Bacon.. we all love bacon.
Tried the Pot du Creme for dessert today, very good. At $8 for desserts, this is quite a value.
I love this place. Right now, I'm back for Brunch. Eggs Benny just showed up looking awesome.
I'll be back again.
Update number 3.. I got a room at the coast hotel just so I could come back one more time before leaving town. End of the night, pretty much at last call. Grabbed two Heineken, the Brussles Sprouts and the Moroccan dip appys.
I scarfed down the food so fast because I didn't want to camp out at the end of the workday.
Server dude was solid.
The Moroccan dip was delicious. An aromatic chickpea and tomato hot chutney, very tasty. I see it's on the brunch menu. That'd be good, the Moroccan breakfast.
Anyway, yeah, the Brussles Sprouts!!! runs around like the ultimate warrior in wwf back in the 80s SO GOOD! I need to buy the menu designer a beer.
What do me and The Terminator have in common?...
Read morePaid 70 bucks for 2 tickets to the Christmas buffet for tonight, Dec 25, 2019...first time going...heard lots of good things about it...got there, and found our table, with 2 other couples with us...the ladies sat down, and we 3 gents went to stand in line at the bar for some drinks...we were fairly close to the head of the line, maybe 25-30 people back, but even so, it took us over 20 minutes to get our drinks because there was 1, ONE, bartender, and not a very good one at that, to serve I don't know how many people...350-500? I had to correct him 3 times for my order because he kept grabbing the wrong stuff for me...the lineup behind us was backed up well beyond the entrance doors, and only growing longer...we got back to our table and sat down for a few minutes...when we noticed people starting to sit down with food, we all got up and walked around, trying to find the back of the line...there was absolutely no signage to direct people where to line up for plates and the beginning of the food...people were going everywhere...by the time I got an empty plate, I was already so angry that I would have walked out if I hadn't already paid the 70 bucks to get in...even with 4 lines going through the food lines, it was so unorganized and disjointed that it took an unacceptable amount of time, close to 15 minutes to get through and get back to my table...my food was cold by the time I sat down...and by that time, I had decided I was not going to waste my time going back through the lineup...what I had on my plate was all I had time for, and it certainly wasn't worth 35 bucks a plate...it was mediocre at best buffet food, and I finished firmly of the mind that I will not EVER come back to this restaurant...the cheesy live jazz music was too loud, forcing us to have to yell to be heard at our table...kids were running amok everywhere, dishing up for themselves without parental supervision, doing god knows what to the food that everyone else was expected to eat...one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had in a...
