Straight out of 1991, if 1991 was today. The cafeteria style bistro harkens back to a simpler time, and the comfortable oak chairs, ample seating, and clientele of regulars speak to this place's calibre. A clean, well kept premise, friendly and generous hosts, and reliable fresh food made from scratch in house, right down to the breads and English muffins (the place is also a bakery, after all). "The best cream of mushroom soup in the world. Tastes even better than usual!" -Chef's true words. Lovely eggs benny too, and crisp, mouth watering home fried potatoes on the side. Also, breakfast is now served "all day!", just don't call them up at 11pm for it. I'll be back.

I can only attest to the quality of the donuts. Sure they're a bit more expensive than say Tim Hortons, but Specialty Bakery's fresh made Kelownuts are worth every penny. No tax on six, and not tax plus a free extra donut on a dozen. My only complaint is that my lack of self control leads me to eat 3+ of these monsters every time.

Ordered a Black Forest cake. There was nothing wrong with it other than it just wasn’t a Black Forest cake. 2 layers of chocolate cake, one layer of cherry pie filling and the cream icing was not on this layer. The chocolate on the outside was waxy. Suuper disappointed as it was just a chocolate cake with cherries.

I'm torn. On the one hand... their "Kelownut" (their take on the famous Cronut) is phenomenal. Probably the best donut anywhere and well worth the $2.50.

But on the other hand... they also have a Bistro. And it is obviously very popular. I'm just not sure why. The cafeteria style service is inefficient and impersonal. The prices are modest, but not really good value for the quality. And quality is my main concern. I would have figured a place this popular would make their own burger patties (I asked and was told they are just frozen patties) and considering they are attached to a bakery, I expected something special from the bread... but my sandwich had commercial sliced bread with some basic deli meat in the middle. Meh.

I mean... it's ok. But yeah, 3 stars. 4 only because...

You used to be my favorite bakery. :(

When did it become okay to charge over $4.00 (with tax) for a single "Kelownut" and diminish the quality and think it would be unnoticeable for semi-regulars?! I bought one yesterday and immediately noticed how much 'lighter' it felt. I thought they forgot the cream filling altogether until the last bite. Seriously!? Nope. Not okay.

Not long before this happened, maybe a couple months or so ago, I bought the last apple fritter at a different location and was gobsmacked at how awful IT was. Dry, stale tasting, VERY disappointing! Certainly not fresh. Couldn't even eat it!

THANKS for encouraging me to start baking again. I KNOW baked goods do not need to be this expensive. I'm for sure not paying your prices for this hit-n-miss...

I've been going here almost weekly for over 15 years for bread and other baked goods, they used to have amazing bread and awesome treats, but the last 5-6 months this place has gone down hill, badly. Bread is now much more expensive and doesnt taste as good, I buy sliced bread every week and lately it's been all over the place with loaf sizes and slice sizes, sometimes I get regular thickness slices, other times it's almost as thick as Texas bread. Once I even had a loaf with both thick and thin slices. Staff seems to be all new and not friendly, it's very sad to see the place I loved going to often take such a turn for the worse. Time to take my business elsewhere, I suggest you...
