I recently had the pleasure of dining at Walima, a charming restaurant nestled in the heart of Mississauga . I was excited to savor authentic Kuwaiti cuisine.
The restaurant's ambiance was warm and inviting, with Arabian-style decor and soft, dimmed lighting. It provided an authentic Kuwaiti feel, transporting diners to the Arabian Peninsula.
The staff at Kuwaiti Delights were polite and welcoming. They were attentive to our needs, and the service was reasonably prompt throughout the meal.
Kuwaiti Delights boasts an extensive menu featuring a variety of dishes, including mutton, chicken, and fish. The menu truly reflects the rich Kuwaiti culinary heritage.
Now, on to the highlight – the food. I ordered a selection of dishes, including mutton kebabs, chicken, and grilled fish. While the flavors were undoubtedly rich and flavorful, there was one common issue that marred the experience: the dishes were overly dry. The mutton kebabs lacked the desired juiciness, the chicken was slightly overcooked, and the grilled fish, though well-seasoned, suffered from the same dryness. This was disappointing, given the otherwise authentic taste and aromatic spices.
In terms of pricing, Kuwaiti Delights falls in the mid-range category. While the dryness of the dishes was a letdown, the overall cost was reasonable for the dining experience and the location.
Despite the dryness issue, my overall experience at Kuwaiti Delights was enjoyable. The authentic Kuwaiti flavors were evident in the dishes, and the restaurant's ambiance added to the charm.
Kuwaiti Delights has great potential, and with some attention to ensuring the dishes remain moist, it could truly shine as a Kuwaiti culinary gem in the city. I recommend trying their food, but be sure to communicate your preferences regarding the level of doneness.

Read moreWe wanted to try mandi at a new place, so came across this restaurant while searching for mandi places online. Based on the photos and the reviews, we decided to give this a shot. For someone who has been born and breaded in Saudi Arabia - I have a strong sense of what good Mandi is all about as we had tried almost every version of it back in KSA - Saudi, Yemeni, Afghani, etc.
First of all, the owner of the restaurant confirmed to me (upon enquiring while paying at the end) that this is actually Kuwaiti cuisine. Although the strong and rustic flavors would easily sway you to believe you are having Yemeni food, but the cat is out of the bag - you are having Kuwaiti cuisine here.
The restaurant gives this low key yet comfortable and authentic ambiance. The staff was pleasant yet not in your face. We were 6 adults, so they had made a family platter for us combined with bukhari and other rice mixture with chicken and lamb.
For the price, they charged - you could have easily gotten a bit more chicken but am being a bit picky. Otherwise, the quantity was generous over all with meat and rice. Food was flavourful indeed. Lamb could have been a bit more most from inside but still good for lamb lovers. Bukhari chicken was outstanding. Soup was great too, had a strong and rustic flavour - ask for lime/lemon to make it more balanced if you like it a bit more mellow. Tried cheese samosa - amazing saltiness to it. Served with tomatoe sauce and tomatoe spicy sauce with mandi. Definitely could have been more generous with tomatoe spicy sauce, but am sure if we had requested for it again, they would have happily obliged.
Lastly there was arabic version of gulag jaaman and coffee was to die for.
Would come back again to try their shrimp and fish combos that surely looked appetitizing through constant screening on TV screen in the restaurant ... they truly deserve to have a visit especially by those who appreciate authentic...
Read moreI finally found a great Kuwaiti cousine restaurant in the GTA, with amazing food and great taste.
This really is a jewel for all the food lovers who crave for an awesome food experience.
We found this restaurant through Instagram and thought to give it a try and trust me, it was totally worth it !
From the point of ordering, to picking up the food and having it was all an excellent and pleasant experience.
We'd ordered a family tray of Machboos Lahm (Mutton) & Chicken, which is a traditional Kuwaiti dish of Lamb or Chicken with Rice. The Mutton was cooked in the best of traditional authentic Kuwaiti style & was very nicely treated with aromatic spices. The meat literally melted in the mouth and was so flavourful. Having this lovely food brought back nostalgic memories of Kuwait.
My kids usually doesn't like lamb, but they too loved it.
The portion size was generous & great. Although the food we ordered was for 5 people, but the quantity provided was more than sufficient for 6 - 7 people.
Our order was taken by the owner himself, who's an amazingly friendly person. We were suggested on the order & he personally ensured that our satisfaction was their top priority and is met in full.
We picked up the food, which was freshly prepared and ready at the specified time. The owner even threw in some extra sauses/ condiments to add further value to our experience and helped us to put the food in our car.
All in all it was an awesome experience and easily deserve 5 stars for their great service, food and friendliness.
Would definitely recommend this restaurant to all middle eastern food lovers and will...
