Sushi Shop — Restaurant in Montreal

EDIT: Update 2023. It only took the management four years to reply to my review, asking me to send them my receipt and photo of my order. It may amaze you that I haven't actually hung onto it as a treasured keepsake.

This location is a mess. I contacted Sushi Shop customer service about a pre-made lunch box I got from here a while back. It tasted of cigarettes as though prepared by unwashed hands, had grit in one of the sushi rolls (like getting sand in your teeth) and an unidentifiable chemically smell on another roll. It went in the garbage. The company sent me a $15 gift card as compensation, so I went back and had the veggie poke bowl another day, which was delicious and beautifully presented. I assumed the initial incident was a fluke.

Today, on the other hand, I got the same veggie poke bowl and took it back to my office as I was running late. Had I still been nearby, I would have brought it back; of the stated ingredients (avocado, edamame beans, cucumber, lettuce, red pepper, crispy sweet potato strings, green onion, coriander, Japanese spices, ponzu sauce, sesame sauce, spicy light mayo, Japanese mayo, teriyaki sauce, sesame, nori) it was missing crispy sweet potato strings, green onion, coriander, pozu sauce, teriyaki sauce and nori. It was basically rice, lettuce, avocado and a tablespoon of edamame & red pepper with a few julienned pieces of cucumber drowning in mayo all dumped into the bowl. No texture, no flavour.

This is totally unacceptable, especially for the price. The cashier is very friendly and polite, but the waits are ridiculous (sometimes 15-20 minutes at lunchtime) and you never know what you're going to get in terms of the food. I have been getting my sushi from this place for over two years now (pandemic), I've always got the same two items because I think they're the best, and throughout this whole time they've delivered the same quality and taste over and over. Honestly i loved it! I ordered from doordash, they forgot my sweet and sour sauce that's supposed to come with the imperial roll , but that's okay, i guess i'll have to order the sauce by itself next time.
