⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Barrel House – Windsor’s Hidden Gem on Sandwich Street
If you find yourself in Windsor and your appetite is calling for something deliciously satisfying, The Barrel House on the aptly named Sandwich Street is a must-visit.
I stopped in with my son for a casual lunch and we were blown away. I went for the beef dip with mushrooms and it was juicy, tender and perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of melt-in-your-mouth richness. The fresh coleslaw on the side was crisp and refreshing and the giant garlic pickle deserves its own shoutout, sharp, crunchy and the perfect punch of brine to balance the meal.
My son had the classic burger and fries and after just one bite, he looked up and said, “Top three burgers of all time.” That’s high praise coming from a young burger connoisseur. The patty was grilled to perfection, the bun held up beautifully and the fries were golden, hot and lightly crisped, exactly what you want.
The food came out quickly and piping hot and our server was incredible, friendly, attentive and genuinely welcoming. It felt like one of those rare spots where the service and the food are equally excellent.
If we lived in Windsor, my son has already declared this would be his go-to burger spot. Fresh, flavourful, fast and just plain fun, The Barrel House lives up to its name and then some.

Read moreWe came in with 8 people to sit and have drinks and eat a nice meal. We asked to move some tables together on the patio, but were told that don’t do that because it changes the dynamic. So we split our group across two tables and we each mingled between the two. After about 20 minutes we saw the owner (3 weeks new) come out and move some tables around for another party of 8. When we asked why - he stated that he does special things for his regulars. My buddy spoke up and informed him he goes there everyday for lunch. He informed us that he didn’t need our business as he can always fill his patio. So while our food was still in the kitchen we cancelled our orders and left to another restaurant. We won’t go back. It was a great place until this new owner brought his ego to work. The Loose Goose on Dougal was a fantastic...
Read moreI’ve came here many times but this will probably be my last. Food was amazing as always but service was horrible. We waited around 15 mins for drinks and waited for food for around 25 minutes. No apology was said about it being slow or anything. After we finished the food we waited another 20 minutes just for a box. When she came she just had our bill and was telling us that she was on her phone because some guy was hitting on her. I literally looked at her with a blank stare… you are working! You shouldn’t be on a phone call and if you are don’t tell your customer that. Just very unprofessional. We ended up going inside to grab the box and still no apology from the waitress that she was taking too long or anything. Very disappointed because I have told people such good things about this place but today was...
