Silver Spoon Thai Cuisine — Restaurant in Ottawa

Two of us recently had dinner here for the first time. We have been interested in trying it for the longest time. Because we were going to be short of time, we called ahead, made a reservation and even provided our menu choices. Pleasantly surprised, when we arrived we were escorted to a nice reserved table, and shortly thereafter our food started to arrive, just as ordered hours earlier. All of our choices were delicious, very flavorful and colorful - very nicely presented. The basil wings appetizer was unique and delicious.

I would have provided 5 stars however a there a few issues relating to lack of detail on the service front. Our waitress was a teenager, and while friendly enough, didn't seem to know how important it is to check on our needs once in a while. We weren't offered drinks at the beginning, not even water which is required with spicy food. We might have ordered a drink if offered (not a good business model to ignore this part). We were not visited even once throughout the meal to see how everything was or to see if we needed a water top up. We had to chase the waitress for our tea/coffee (they didn't seem to have coffee) after waiting for awhile for this portion of the meal. And at the end, we had the chase the waitress for the bill after sitting there for awhile waiting for it.

Still, overall, I would not hesitate to go again. They just need to pay a little more attention to...

Really disappointed. We ordered off of ubereats- pad thai, panang, and basil stir fry, along with jasmine rice.

We were excited to try the pad thai because its listed as being a tamarind based sauce rather than ketchup. The pad thai was fine in taste but was pretty dry- this might have been because it was delivered but this was basically the only thing we got today that was really edible.

The basil stir fry was so salty we couldn't eat it- the entire dish was thrown out.

The panang we found was sort of bland but the real issue was its texture- it was very grainy, almost looked like the sauce had separated. Even after it had been stirred, it kept the same strange texture.

The rice was very overcooked and basically mush.

Portion sizes were also much smaller than other thai places...

This is my favourite restaurant of all time. Excellent service, quick, and attention to detail! I honestly wonder how they do it!

My time estimate is usually very low from when I place my order. Around 15-20 minutes. Never received an estimate higher than 25 minutes.

The staff is very friendly and easygoing. Entering makes you feel right at home.

I've been going about once a week for the past 6 months or so with special order notes every time and I've only ever had a mistake in my order once. And how did they rectify it? They let me keep what I had already received and gave me what I ordered and some extra rice as well?! That is so hospitable and kind when I was just expecting to return the food I had and exchange.
